Don't do any revision and see how naturally clever you are :P

Mr Jake

use Gitesize if you are addicted to the PC :P

I use SAMlearning, but not all schools have access.

AGA

My advice is don't. I never so much as opened a book for my GCSEs, and I passed them all with no problems, even got a few Bs and As...

I did my standard grades (Scottish equivalent of GCSEs) about a month ago, & in the weeks leading up to it I found this site quite helpful:

BBC Bitesize

I know it seems kinda nerdy, but I believe it helped me a lot. But then again, I am just naturally gifted. :P

Hi there!

At the moment I'm doing my "Matura". That's imho similar to your GCE"A" and one of the
topics for my oral exams in english is "british schoolsystem"... so I'm just learning all about that "GCSE" stuff ;)

Ryam BaCo

i'm one of these "matura"-guys too.
if you don't want to fail do the absolute opposit of what i did for my written exams:
learn more than a (10 hour, no brakes) day and some toilet/bus-sessions for them.

surprinsingly my marks were good, but i had to improvise a lot...

hmmm...serious tip: learn on the toilet! :D no kidding, that's great, because
1) you can't escape
2) nothing distracts you
3) if you lock the door no one can disturb you

and learning in busses is also cool! if no one disturbs you...of course...

Hey Ryam, I already passed my written exams, but I guess your hints will help me a lot with my oral exams ;)

GCSEs are pretty easy, like AGA I didn't do revision, or most of the coursework (except for IT and graphics where it was most of the grade) and I got good grades (all C or above, 5 As).  As long as you expect to get C or above for most things, based on your mocks I wouldn't bother revising, work on your game is more important.  I don't think anyone looks at your GCSEs anyway.

Daz

im doing GCSEs and i have a resistant materials exam in about 10mins, eep 1hr 30mins and i have done no revision, but advise relax and do revision when you feel it nessesary works for me (i hope)

I don't really know what a GSCE is (final exams, right?) but you really, like others have said, have to put yourself in a position where you can't be disturbed. I mean, really, study skills are something you should already have before you get to exams :P but that's ideally.

Secondly, and very importantly, don't get caught up in thinking about how to make a great study environment. You just have to do it, and you have to tell yourself honestly not to make excuses, which is the hardest thing if you're like me.

Thirdly, whatever the subject is, make good notes. Read the material, bit by bit if you have to, learn it briefly in your head (just get a feel for it) and then from your thoughts, write it out again (unless it's maths, in which case LEARN IT EXACTLY! :P). Make -neat-, and -brief- notes. (Though not shorthand, don't go TOO brief, just get down what you need)

Lastly, take roughly a 45 minute break every couple of hours. A teacher told me that once and I swear, it worked wonders. It's just enough to clear your head and stop you from overthinking or going insane.

All this is coming from someone who did VERY little study for her highschool exams and passed them all, but my exams weren't too hard and I was pretty darn good at faking it  by that stage. I recommend learning whatever the hell you can just to get as many marks as you can so all the stuff you forget doesn't fail you ^_^

Daz

i whizzed though the maths exam i totally pwn'd itÃ,  :P i finished them both in like half an hour, but then again i was doing intermediate ;D

Flippy_D@School

I did maths int, found that rather easy.

French is odd; I'm awesome at translation, but rubbish at production (ie: writing and oral). Oh well. Didn't find writing too easy. Wrote 80 words for the 40 words one and only about 90 for the 90-100 words one. However, I think I put some neat stuff in there... maybe I'll lift to a B (outside chance of an A if I do the usual standard on Reading and Listening and get lucky on Writing and Oral).

DT was fine. English Lit was nasty - I hate English exams, because I know for a fact I'm one of the best in the school, but damned if I can write what they WANT me to write. *Sigh*. I hope I did good.

English paper tomorrow too...

Sam.

i wish i was doing intermediate.english tomoz yay! might make up for my shitty  maths grade with agood english one.BTW a GCSE is only a final exam if you finish school at 16. if not you still have AS, A2,and univesrsity before finishing.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

AGA

This sort of explains the English and Welsh education systems...

Daz
