I cant have side walls (dont have the time to explain everyting - the sig. and avatar kinda explainÃ,  :-\)

To make the window look more like a window try adding a window frame and a reflection. The door could have some more details like hinges and maybe some carved rectangles ect. The floor is large and plain so it makes the room look blank.
Also you could make the lines on the door and on the window straight.

hope this helped,

Iwan

Did you a quick paint over, hope you don't mind.

http://www.geocities.com/whoismonkey/virc.htm

1. Gave Window a frame and reflection, and added some depth.
2. Gave door a frame and hinges.
3. Added some shade to the floor, to break it up a bit.

Basicly, everything Green Man suggested. The perspective isn't right, but I quite like it.
Feel free to use or ignore whatever you want.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Cerulean

The vast area of floor implies a high perspective. This is why the window looks like a picture; there is no way the horizon would even be in frame, let alone that low. If you stick a second little wall in the middle of the room with a similar window, what do you see through it? You see the floor. Now, I grant that a solid green rectangle wouldn't look so great either, but to break it up, you could show the tops of some bushes that are right up against the house.

Evil

I took a go.

Cool thing I just learned. MSpaint saves as png.

My 10 Cents: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/painterover.bmp

Sorry about the BMP, but if you combine my BG and and Evil's Table, you'd probably have a cool background...

the reason why the room has no furniture is because you actually buy the furniture in the IRC client (with non-real money) and the user can redecorate the furniture around.

thanks everyone for your edits - i think they might give me quite a lot of ideasÃ,  ;D

evil: do you mind if i actually TAKE the table and use that for a later version? (catalogue changes every version)

The window is too low. The tops on the windows should be aligned with the tops of the door. Also. the direction of the door is oposite. It should be facing this way to get the best look for the room.

Sam.

i just had a quick go. I edited the window to make it look like less of a hole and gave the door some depth.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

that window.... just... WOW  :o how do people do that!? it looks so modern  :D
not too keen on the door frame - it just doesn't look right  :-\

___

i'm still unsure about the hinges on the door - they just stick out. might just get rid of them?

Sam.

what program are you using. I am using psp. I highlite the are a i want to turn into glass, i select an airbrush and set the colour to light blue. I then set it to the largest size and about opacity 10. I spray the area twice just to slightly colouris ethe area. I thebn select two stripes with the manual selction tool and repeat the same but with it coloured white. et voila, one window.

i agree witht the door thing btw. get rid of the frame. my point really was the slight shadow under the door to make it look slightly less painted on.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

i'm using MGI photosuite 8.1 and paint :-\

I can't afford stuff like PSP and don't like "cracking" programs - it's just cruel.

---
my brother argues about the light stripes on the windows that the light would only focus on one areaÃ,  ??? didn't really have a clue what he meant, maybe you do?

---

I'll try the shadow now

EDIT-

This is my new update:

i've made the window open slightly - i want to know if that looks ok

EDIT-
forgot to turn the door around. lol

I think he means details, instead of one plain color...
