This is just some concept work for my rpg template. I tried to use a full vertical style here. Nothing here is set in stone. Thats a rough gui idea I had and Its not close done. The background is just a test to compare the chests and Char. I will be adding more details to it. C+C please

I just noticed his helmets colored opposite of what it should, disregard that

Where the dirt and the grass meets, try to have it all patchy as in a bit of dirt on the grass, and a bit of grass on the dirt. If you go outside (oh no!) and have a look at a dirt trail , have a look around it and you'd see that it doesn't go GRASSDIRT... its more like GRASSDIRTGRASSDIRT...

I wonder if I'm making sense, as I can't really understand what the hell I just said.

Moox

I understand completely, Ill work on that

Looks cool.  It's really hard to draw things from a top-down perspective, but you've done a great job so far.  I did something that looked pretty close to that some time ago... was too hard for me to draw in that perspective, though.  I'm sure it will look even better when you add some more details.

What type of RPG is it going to be?

Also, about the path, it's perfectly symetrical. I'm sure the "GRASSDIRTGRASSDIRT" process will help though...

I did a paintover to clarify more of what I mean by GRASSDIRTGRASSDIRT... but I kinda went overboard with it. :P

I think Ultimo's edit is awesome.  The original had way too much noise, IMO.

I did a quick paintover of your knight, fixing the shading and shortening the arms a bit.  I might have gone a little overboard as well.   :P

Edit:  Still not happy with the arm color.....

Moox

Thank you both, I love the path Ultimo, and I never thought about bracers or a handle tikki.

Though I like the LOOK of the handle, I know it's probably not how I'd want the handle of the shield to be if I was holding it (horizontal and not vertical?!).

And for the record, I thought the grassdirt comment was pretty clear.  ;)

LordHart

That thing is a shield?! ???

Well, since it is based in medieval times (i'm guessing this), should the shield be attached to the arm, and not held? That way, it would allow the person to hold the sword in both hands which would allow for better attack and defense...

2 handed swords wernt usually used by knights but rather by ground swordsmen. The shield and a single handed sword where used more commenly as the shield had his hareldry and he was usually mounted.

I made handle verticle

Cool. Background's pretty cool, but the treasure chests dont look woody enough, unless shiny brown plastic was the look you were going for.
