hot of the press this one:

Its for my current project situated around a digsite on easter Island.

Im not to sure about the smudge on the far statue and it still needs a few extra bits and bobs, clouds ect. but I'm pretty damn happy with it :)

edits/paintoveres welcome

cheers

The drawing is really good, but the shaded sky isn't. Kill that linear gradiant!

ScottDoom

I don't like how that tree stump seems to end where the horizon ends. It just looks funny. Make the stump a bit taller or a bit shorter.

He-Man

This is really good.
The style is very unique due to the hand drawn lines!
But I also think you should get rid of the gradiant. Some hand drawn clouds would be nice...
If you can fit this style to your characters ypur game is going to look very good...

Yeh i know, but what kind of a game would it be if it really was that true to form. There''s absolutly nothing of interest on easter island apart from some statue's and i want to make it a bit more interesting. Hell i might not even have ti set on easter island, it could be somewhere else with strange simularities to easter island.

bah

ill kill the gradient later

Daz

that looks pretty damn nice it has nice textures eg the grass looks like grass instead of a green mass, and nice depth but.... i think you need to add more in the background eg more trees carrying on or a mountain or hill,

very atmospheric, nice

Guess what, I'm just finishing fleshing out the plot for my current project, situated around a digsite on Easter Island

Wonder how different the games will be... from the looks of it yours will have better graphics :)

I really like it, though I agree with the points mentioned already.Ã,  Personally, i'd remove the stump, I think it would look much better... unless it serves a purpose. *Forgot to mention I like the trees, btw. ;)

Chicky

i did research, plenty enough of the stuff. But i just thought the picture would look better WITH tree's. Think about the picture if it had no background, it would look shit...

to be blunt.

and pixelcat, yeh i hate the stump, i was going to rub i out when i drew the picture. But i couldnt find my rubber :)

Vel

Wonderful! I quite dig the style.

just because you would take out the trees doesnt mean it would have to look bad. you can still have a background, and not all bgs have to have trees. you can add a rocky plateau/mountain side and grasslands that the island does have.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

ok so i just wanted an excuse to have a forest... due to popular demant the gradient and forest are being killed, not quite sure how im going to add different background seeing as its all hand draw. I'll see :)

Moox

its an island, just draw water and a blue sky

Or you could have a mini-game at the beginning in which you are an (OH NO!) Evil Doctor!!!!!1oen And you time travel back, kidnap Johnny Appleseed, and then bring him to Easter Island to plant a forest.

Might be easier to put somethin' else back there though.

hehe, i really did have a good chuckle at that one.

here's the edited picture, tried to cover everyone's points.

I have to thank a-hed for helping me out on this one, he did a great job aiding me with the latest edit. :)

I think its just about done now, i will add forground at a later stage, and a few other bits and pieces.

switcharoo

Very nice, much better than the original... I like it a lot.

pixelcat

Wow, really nice.  I liked the old background, but the colours in this one are so much better.  Good stuff, man.
