Andail, 2-2. The result says it all.

Andail

Vel, are you serious?

You mean just because somebody said "Sweden and Denmark will both proceed if they score 2-2" means that 2-2 cannot be achieved without the match being fixed?

Do you find the result 2-2 so outrageously implausible (still considering that the teams are known to be equally good) that the match just had to be fixed?

If you look at the chances Denmark had to score 3-1 (they were extremely close at least twice), how can you explain the plan behind that? Can you sincerely tell me that it was all arranged?

"The result says it all"!!
If you actually believe it was a setup, you should attend to other things than watching soccer.
It might be easier to do now when Bulgaria isn't playing anymore.

Vel

Bulgaria isn't playing anymore because we do not deserve to - our defence is like swiss cheese.
And Andail, can you explain why everybody stopped playing after Sweden's second goal?
I don't mean it's a setup with bribes and such, just a 'cmfortable result both teams are happy with'

That's a completely different thing. Teams will slow down on their pace if they have reached a result they're happy with.
Italy would have done the same. Bulgaria would have done the same.

If both teams know they will advance with the current standings, they would be foolish to risk that just to get some sort of cosmetic extra-goal.

But setting up a match in advance is another thing; to arrange it and to make some sort of agreement. Such an agreement was never made. Both team wanted to win, and would never resort to cheating.

Also, the teams didn't stop playing until the very last minutes, and if that result had been reached earlier, they would have played much more intensely, I'm sure of

I am looking forward to see today's Czech Republic - Germany game. Czechs don't have anything to loose and can play relaxed and entertaining football while Germans will be determined to win and will fight to the last breath (if necessary).

Germans know they can't play defensively as only victory puts them through. It might be another great match. But what worries me is number of substitutes - it's probable that completely different team will play tonight compared to Holland game. It's almost certain that Nedved, Baros, Koller, Rosicky Poborsky and Galasek will rest, maybe even goalkeeper Cech.Ã,

That's 7 people from 11 and that can be rightfuly called reserve team. I am worried that this B team wont be able to compete with Germans and the defeat will send Holland home. I hope I am wrong.

They did lose to Portugal B 3-0 in Euro 2004. However, I believe this time they will go through.

I don't know for Italy, but Bulgaria did not do the same in England 1996. France offered a 2-2 draw, but we did not accept it. And that was said by the team's physio at the time. We would now, though.

AAAAH! The Netherlands is going out this night.... I just feel it! Holland - Latvia 0-2   :o

dear dear holland.... ROBBEN IS TEH BEST!

*yes dear ladies, this was another useless post of /\/\!|\|!/\/\!

Vel

I hope the Germans go home.

Minimi

moehahaha.... what did I tell you??

... the netherlands lose?? No that was sarcasm!!! WE ARE THROUGH!!!!!

Hup holland hup! Laat die leeuw niet in z'n hempie staan!
Nederland OLE OLE!!!!
Wilhelmus van oranje....
blababla....

jaz

You owe a BIIIG thanks to Czech "B" team, you Dutch! And I'm glad it ended this way.

Barcik

Germany is trully horribly pathetic. They need a tall blonde striker who can push balls in, not that Brazilian-German-Panaman-Hungarian Earthling who can only fall and complain in many various ways.

Holland? Organized Sweden should beat the primadonnas.

Haha, Germany couldn't even get a draw against Czech Rep. B. I was dissapointed by Latvia's performance, I never expected them to win, but they played really poorly.

I heard rumors that Trap is gonna be fired and Marcelo Lippi will take his place, yay!

Germany are practically a B team anyway. Their only good player is Ballack, the rest are just pretty ordinary.

EDIT - I just found this cool replay thingy on bbc.co.uk

http://www.bbc.co.uk/virtualreplay/euro2004/index.shtml?22089

You can replay the goals from different angles, check out the ball cam, pretty cool.

Vel

Lucasfan, what was that quote you posted earlier?

Barcik

Above average England should beat mediocre Portugal.

Privateer Puddin'

I have a bad feeling about tonight, either England will lose or Rooney be sent off, england win and he misses the final or something, sigh! :P

Vel

Rooney has just been lucky in the first 3 matches, he is nothing but an above average striker.

Privateer Puddin'

yep all luck, just like bulgaria were unlucky throughout euro 2004? :|

Vel

It was quite a success that we qualified, eliminating such teams as Belgium and Croatia.

TheDude

Rooney's injured, Rooney's injured!!!! Hahaha.

I could've posted this when it happened, but i've been too busy laughing.
