I see your point Oz. I am going for the gritty/dark angle, i think ill go for "It started out as a small encampment for lowly criminals run booze during the prohibition, The only change now is there's more scum" To over the top, Not enough. This bit would be for the start of the game, main char describing the town why he is were he is. I am now needing help on what he should wear. If you go to the critics lounge you can see what he looks like, and you can read about him in this thread.

Sutebi

Does the town even really need a description right now? I mean, you could make it that the town started out normal enough, but then it suddenly started attracting the wrong elements and became wicked. For RON, they didn't really talk about the origins of Reality for a while.

I kind of agree with Sutebi.
There's no real need to stress from the start that this is a bad town (although a lot of people will know anyway, having read this tread), but maybe just let it bubble under the surface for a while, and 'reveal' the history in a later game. Maybe it's just that I like the idea of thigs not being quite what they seem.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Johnny Odd

I would enjoy adding to the series later perhaps - if there's no restriction on who can 'join'.
I thought 'There goes the neigbourhood' was a good tag line rather than a title - otherwise it sounds too comical. Loving the new name by the way.
Have you begun anything in the ags engine yet- or is it still story and planning stage?
Eagles may fly high, but badgers don't get sucked into jet engines.

Dave Gilbert

I wouldn't worry about adding major backstory to the town right away.  RON hardly did any of that.  The mythology and the history grew along with the series.  That's part of what makes it a group project.

Sutebi

If I may suggest a character, I think an interesting one would be a street cleaner who sweeps the streets. His nickname could be the Muck Raker or something, but he would be an informant on the streets, because he always seems to know what is going on.

For some obscure reason, Sutebi's suggested character rather reminded me of the Bum, and I thought, what if Knightsbridge becomes a sort of RON parallel? As in, if the Street-cleaner be the equivalent of the Bum (now, why did I associate them? And darn if it doesn't feel right!), there may be, say, oh all sorts of characters parallel to the RON world. Just wanted to let ya know, 'cause I been reading this thread for a long time and only now thought this up - it's quite probable that Knightbridge becomes a parallel of RON, of sorts. And I think that'd be waaaaay beside the point, right?

But then, one never knows WHAT group efforts can turn out. As has been said, maybe it'd be better not to suggest anything, really, just make a sketch of the town and... well, see how it turns out. "Lunchtime of the Damned" is pretty damn small and non-conclusive in itself... but it paved the way admirably, precisely because so much was left to decide.

Hey redruM,
The parralel of RON is a good idea but i wont shove it on people. If people want to make it like that in their game fine. Anyway, THE SITE IS UP!!!! Thankyou ScottDoom for designing it.

Woah, buddy. It looks like you're missing a good portion of the interface. Hahah. PM your Fragism account details and I'll help you fix it up.

And may I suggest making the navigation stand out more?
At the moment it's way too dark IMO. Black text on dark red background is hard to read.

I have changed how the series shall begin. Instead of a large murder mystery, it shall become a short game about Richard starting his buisness. It will play more as movie so as to set the scene and not pile information and constrictions on the following games.

Hey everybody,
I have dug up this old thread again, not just to pimp my game in production, but to call for a BG artist. If you can do non-cartoony backgrounds and wish to help me, please contact me by PM or by DrRaoul_Duke@@hotmail.com (remove on @)

Shouldn't the graphics be relatively average, so that if later on someone wishes to add more BGs or characters to the game, the difference won't stand out that much? This way a seperate BG artist should not really be necessary

What if you did some backgrounds along the lines of those featured in "5 Days a Stranger"? They were simple, yet realistic. I think that style would be your best bet for encouraging people to add on to your world.
