what programme is best to make backgrounds

funny how this guys been flamed for starting a topic in the wrong forum and about a topic thats been covered before several times.  Anyway, as I'm a nic guy, heres some tips:
Get a 3D modelling program and learn to use it WELL, 3D looks good if you can do it well, if not, it looks, well, sh*t
Vector is good, as if you dont like something, simply go back and change the nodes, plus effects and stuff can be added to objects, Real DRAW rocks.  Vectors not good for small images though.
Pixel art. Many a hour spent by me doing this, its good fun, but requires some skill to look good.
Then we have digital painting, I'd say Open Canvas is the best on for this.

i think i should make 3d after i make my first game it would go quite well and hopefully(if i practice enough)it will look realisticÃ, Ã,  ::)
