Hello, How's it goin?

I was wondering if anyone has any extended knowledge (or even any knowledge) in the strange and wonderful universe of laptopish word processors?

Basically they do nothing but let you write. Maybe some spreadsheet and other options but they are generally monochrome (or very limited color). They have insane battery lifes and pretty light weight.

As far as still on the market items all I have really found is..

http://www.alphasmart.com/

Which is nice but for the good model it is nearly 400 dollars. That seems like a lot. Anyone with any directions to point me will get a high five and a.. High ten?

(I just want something that will let me write anywhere and that is about all. Battery life and large screens and extra options are all nice but I just want something afforadable and nice to work on)

For that price, go for an old laptop..
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

I have considered but I like these things. I have used one before. Besides they get 700+ hours of battery life, durable as hell and they weigh less then an average keyboard.

That one, like I said, is a bit pricey. They were really big in the late 80's and early 90's and just kind of died off. But now you can find earlier models for 50 bucks or so. Problem is I am having a hard time finding any. Either I am doing some bad searching or they were all melted down to pesos.

Wow, I didn't know this sort of thing existed... I really need something like this for writing. Apart from the fact that my laptop is too bulky, and batterly life is dodgy... but something with hundreds of hours of battery life... awesome!

I can't help you out, sorry, Sylpher; but you have inspired me! I need to find a cheap one of these for myself now!

Notebook and a pen ^_-

LGM. The AlphaSmart 3000 is alright but I've read quite a few complaints saying it is difficult to work on.

Toefur. Right on, I used to have a straight word proccesor that let you do nothing but type and print. With no way to be distracted with the evil internet and chats and such I could sit and write for hours and hours.

Kinoko. Of course the trusty pen and paper is always good but for me only for brainstorming. Anyone writing an entire book by hand in this day and age needs a medal. Or a slap to the back of the head. Or both.

Yes.. I'm getting my laptop from Mr. Panda (hopefully) on Mon, Tues, or Wed... Then I can finally write without internet distraction O_o, same as you.. It's all so tempting.
You. Me. Denny's.
