Response to claims of 'Space Quest' film

Hello.

My name is Josh Mandel, writer of 'Space Quest VI: The Spinal Frontier', Space Quest videogame released in 1995.

Recently a user at Adventure Game Studio announced a Space Quest movie be released within the next few years. His alias is 'grim fandaddict' and the original thread can be found here - http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=15770.0

This person in question was a member of the proposed Space Quest movie crew, however has now been relieved for spreading the unconfirmed news that the movie had in fact began production.

Unfortunately, he has spread quite a bit of information that was correct. The film is being shot, edited and produced in Canada. However it's a UK-based team who will fly over to begin initial production within the month.

His claims of using a â€˜yellow lens' were false. We initially wanted to re-create the authentic Space Quest â€˜feel', however we're planning on contracting professional video editing teams from the US to re-colour most of the footage. We're filming using newer digital cameras, not the regular film. At this stage, we're shooting with an anamorphic 2.35:1 lens; however our director of photography has not been announced.

This is all the information that will be available for the time being. Once we have began production I may release the confirmed cast and crew to IMDb.com.

OMG!!! SPACE QUEST IN MOVIE?!?! AND THEY SAID IT COULD NEVER BE DONE!! YOU CAN TELL I'M EXCITED BECAUSE I AM WRITING ALL IN CAPS LOCK!!! IS IT TRUE THAT CAMERON DIAZ IS TO PLAY THE SEMI-HUMANOID RELITACKERON LOVE INTEREST OF CAPTAIN IBANEZ OF THE GHOST-FIEND??? PLEASE SAY IT IS SO!!

I previously stated that no new information will be released until production has started.

Well... Josh...

I must admit, it's very hard to believe that you actually are Josh Mandel. I mean, with no further proof than your word, and the word of a deranged fan who types like a ten-year-old, I'm not keeping my hopes up for this movie.

The main fault I see, is that why would someone who was ON a crew for a movie, come post in an adventure game board which revolves around the making of amateur games, and NOT Space Quest, and why would said crew member post all with caps, and no grammar what so ever? Did you just pick random crew members from a hat?

Perhaps someone can check to see if Space Quest King posted any leaked information on the forums over at speacequest.net or at Wilco's Virtual Broomcloset. Those would be the first places I'd check for leaked Space Quest Movie information.

Until I can see some proof, I have to just file this away as a clever way of trying to maintain a joke on the internet. Not that mantaining jokes on the internet are clever at all.

Well it is hard to believe as others have said.

But if you are really Josh, then I pay my respect to you for making Space Quest VI, and wish you good luck with th movie.

It is still very hard to believe I must say.

Well I don't believe its Josh for obvious resons. It was somethinbg I did think about a while ago when I was playing through the space quest games. A movie based on the series would be really cool. But then I dismissed that idea again, for obvious reasons.

Well......surely Chris (or one of the ops, I'm not sure if they can) can check IPs - if the IP of "Josh" matches that of the kings then we have a grade A* hoax on our hands.

If not then.......well, we'll cross that bridge if necessary.

* - well, maybe not grade A. Grade C or D probably.

Wow, what an interesting situation this is.

If you really ARE Josh Mandel, it's really cool to have you here. I love SQ6. If you're NOT Josh Mandel, then you can give up the act, Daniel G, or whoever is doing this.

I have a few questions though. Where is this movie's website? When will the trailer be available? And why are you sharing this information with us in the first place??

This forum is not your personal playground, so please either grow up and contribute sensibly (you've proved you have the ability to write properly as shown in the first post of this thread) or take your childishness elsewhere.
