Usa lost for the first time in basketball

I was just watching the Olympic Games,
and I the game between the USA and Puerto Rico was on.

For the first time in history of the Olympics, USA lost.
I was watching it, and their performance was very bad, most of the 3s were missed, only close shots weresuccesful.
Of course the reason could be that this year it wasn't a dream team playing, or it ould be the coach's fault.

Anyone got any thoughts on it?

I missed the match...
but...

as I remember I heard from somewhere that all the start players aren't playing because of the safety thingy.
Am I right?

If I'm right, then it's logical for them to lose, there aren't many good players on the team becuse of that

The problem with the American basketball team is everyone on it a showoff, the entire team is black. They cant shoot, all they do is dribble and try to dunk.

A total embarassment, but I saw it coming. I was hoping the Americans would lose to a better team, like Serbia, and not Puerto Rico.
The best American players didnt go...some were getting married, some didnt want to get hurt, and others were worried about saftey. The best player there is Tim Duncan. The rest are a bunch of very young, selfish players who cant share the ball. We also only have 1 good point card, and a ton of scoring forwards. very bad player selection by team USA.

I hope they can still win the gold though

It's good to see other nations performing well in Basketball, It's only a matter of time before they catch up to the USA (still a few years yet though), there are a lot of non Americans in the NBA these days which helps as it's the best competition in the world.

The USA recently has been sending young up and coming players to the Olympics rather than a Dream team, which also assists in making the competition a bit closer.

They only just made the Final in the last Olympics, They beat Lithuania by 4 points after scores being level with less than a minute to go, I was at the game and the crowd was totally behind Lithuania. It would have been interesting seeing 2 other nations competing for gold. But It was a great game.

By all accounts I hear the US team sucks this year though, so it's kind of like being proud of beating the Jamaicans at bobsledding (excluding a certain 90's movie).
