After spending my morning looking at sprite comics and other strange things, I suddenly had the inspiration to draw sprites of my own. Again. These two, in fact, are probably the two most generic characters I've ever seen. The one on the left is the hero, and on the right is the learned warrior.

Two versions - 8bit, and 16bit. I'd like some critique on the bottom one in particular...

I'm not sure what the yellow thing is on the sprites on the right. Is he holding something like a bag? Is it a scabbard? A loincloth? Sash?...

Again for the right guy, the 16 bit version, the big black hair strands looks like long ears to me.

Not bad though.

The outlines need to be a little more consitant.  Some parts will have a black outline, others wont.  Both versions of these characters need to have that fixed.

Good job, though.

An addition more than a fix, really... made the second guy's hair shorter and less angular, and made his sash hang off him instead of being angled. I still don't know how to fix the outlines. A little help, maybe an example? Thankyouu!

Oh, and:
1st: Hero
2nd: Warrior
3rd: "Author" / "Artist"
4th: Slime
5th: King of Slimes

May I ask why you make both 8-bit and 16-bit versions of these characters?

Are you planning to do a 16-bit game and then an identical 8-bit game but with crappier graphics?
T'seems like a waste of time to me! ;)

I once started work on a game where your character started in the the year 2010 and went back in time as you solved puzzles.Ã,  When you went back into the 90's you became vga, the 80's you became EGA, and the 70's you became like pitfall graphics.Ã,  Each decade the character changed to fit the graphics of that time.

Are you doing something like that?Ã,  Because I, too, am confused as to why you're trying both versions.

Unless of course it's just for practice ... 'cause that's always good :)

I like them by the way.Ã,  I think they look good.Ã,  I might suggest doing away with black outlines, but that's just my style.Ã,  They still look good.Ã,  I can just see the little slimes hopping along and the fat hyeina's belly jiggling!
