Raider

Hello,
This is my new background, it is the inside of a helicopter and I am having a lot of difficulty with detail and also I don't really no what the inside of a helicopter looks likeÃ,  :-[
If i could get help that would be cool as.
Thanks

Straightening the lines would help this a lot I think.

Or, if you're going for a 'skewed' look/style, just smoothing the curves.Ã,  Right now it looks hand-drawn and a little sloppy.

The best advice I can give for adding details is to just start throwing them in there (if you're using photoshop use seperate layers for each detail piece - easier to move them around if you need to!).Ã,  Once you get a few good ones, the rest will start falling into place.

Those references Demorgon provided should prove helpful to you.

Hi,

This is my newest version of the inside still with no detail.

Maybe its to wide from one side to the other and not high enough? When I try to imagine the shape of that helicopter, it appears to be very flat to me. ALthough for the seats, the people using it must be very small but have very wide asses maybe... So you could try to make it more narrow.

Also, if you are going to create a good game with good quality i say:

Spoiler
work on the flight panel or add some detail, and then i will have a look on it
[close]

if you are going to create a special room with full view on the flight panel, then just add a button there and button over there and, maybe a display there and there...
and for the room, i would do it like 6 days assain when you had the sniper and was looking for the killer

EDIT, removed my insult

Add some cockpit controls, (as the man said) but also wall panels (be subtle) and windows. And round off the floor/wall joint so it looks like the ceiling. Helicopters don't have flat bottoms.

And add some detail and shading to the chair backs.

Other than that, I can see this turning out quite well. Just keep in mind where the character will have to be.
Love the water BTW.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

Every helicopter I've been on has had a flat bottomed floor?

Something to keep in mind when designing a background is making it realistically populated.Ã,  Meaning, the items/elements that you put into the scene make sense.

You need to either add doors to the pilot/copilot stations or remove that center console (or lower it or make it thinner) because the only way the pilots could get into their seats would be to crawl over it.Ã,  Or thin the pilot seats (they're very wide compared to the benches in back)

Also, the perspective is slightly off.Ã,  I have done a paint-over.

- The red lines are the perspective/suggestion lines
- altered the roof lines
- added a door (shortened one bench)
- added details to the floor
- thinned pilot seats
- connected console to dash
- added door areas (cockpit)

You need to show the Collective between the seats and the torque pedals
For now, this is were I get off...

Personally, I find its biggest weakness is its size. I've only been in a helicopter once, and it wasn't exactly roomy. To give a better feeling of it being a small, enclosed space, you may want to make it smaller (narrower especially) overall, possibly with a substantial black boarder around the area, to give the player a better sense of the cramped space.

Just a thought, though.

Raider

Hi,

I still havn't done detail but here is what it looks like with Darth's paint over guides (thanks). Details are coming....

Yes well,

This room is going to be first person so you will not be able to see the character and its from his eyes so I thought it might be ok to have it wider than usual.
Still do you think I should 'thin' it out more?

You should probably make it more thin
Moving at superhigh speed getting to the planet called Earth. But it is boxed in white......thing.....

ditto. The helicopter is much to wide. If you narow it down it would look great. I didn't read all the post so if this has already been said or something please ecscouse me:

If this is supose to be helicopter for parashooters then add a safety rope to the top of the helicopter (as far as I know there should be one there), ofcourse add some gadgets to the console and a flight stick...

Mr Jake

and a set of mini traffic light by the door if its for parashooters. also, if it is, it needs only be a little bit thinner, afaik Military Helicopters tend to be wider.

Here are some pictures of the inside of a Chinook helicopter. As you can maybe see their are walls behind the pilot seats in this type of helicopter at least. And although in comparison to most helicopters they are pretty open they are still pretty small inside.

I suggest adding some random levers and buttons to make it look a bit more lifelike, and make it a bit more narrow as the others said, but otherwise it looks real good.

Almost all semi-bigger, to bigger choppers have walls with doors going into the cockpit.  The only ones that don't, are usually the small general aviation choppers, like Jetrangers, etc.   And Chinooks usually are fairley open.  I would suggest drawing a wall with a door instead of the cockpit.
For now, this is were I get off...
