Can I make a game using AGS and have it be compatable with MAC/PC? I want to make an adventure game using AGS and then distribute it with my school yearbook. I was hoping to have it be compatable with both Mac and PC so all of the Macintosh users won't fell left out.

Is this possible?

No! No! No! What I am asking is if I were to make a game on PC using AGS. Then saved the FINAL product of the game to a disc. I know it would play fine for PC. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW is if I could play the GAME on my mac also.

No. As mentioned in one of the topics i posted, if the user has virtual pc, then it may play.

The thread by netmonkey, is completely about someone wanting to play ags games on a mac, not the developement of them, while the second is a bit of a mix.

Mr Flibble

Am I going to far when I say that anyone who bought a mac perhaps doesn't deserve adventure games?
I mean they are inferior to PCs.
This is not only speculation, but was actually proved by a test carried out. PCs are up to 3 times faster than macs.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

I use Mac G5s at school, and believe me, they're not inferior by any means. A lot better in some respects, as a matter of fact.

Mr Flibble

But would you buy one? (And in the act of doing so, cut yourself off from any good software?)

yeh, but you can't beat a good old proper actual real PC, i think if people want to play more games then they should get proper computers and not whine when stuff doesn't work on their machine.

the mac is inferior? the ps2 inferior to xbox and gc, it has the largest user base though

perhaps you have thought that some people may prefer using a mac? that doesn't mean they don't deserve to play adventure games

I have both a pc and an imac and i dare not say one is better than the other, they both have pros and cons

i dislike people who think they're better because they have a certain computer / console and look down on others ._.

Scummbuddy

they are two different machines, with real purposes that are different from each other. Macs are fantastic for imaging and word processing especially. PCs are fine at those too, but have better features. I personally don't like Macs, but thats because I was raised on a PC, and just using the mouse of a Mac bothered me. One button, no scroll mouse.... oh it was murder for that visual arts class. I would leave sometimes to go do the work at my house.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

I think this is close to truth: not that they don't deserve it, but most of the people who have MAC don't WANT to play (adventure) games. Isn't it obvious?

MrColossal

No it isn't obvious you're all be really really silly...

My friend Nick plays a lot of AGS games on his mac and he likes adventure games a lot... And how are macs better at one thing and PCs aren't? I don't understand this arguement that a mac is better suited for imaging and wordprocessing... Wordprocessing? What amazing feature does a mac have that a PC doesn't that makes it better suited to displaying letters on a screen?

Well, here in Croatia, where I am from, you can find MAC's only on business locations: Graphic studios, Recording studios... I've known only one man who owned MAC in his home, and he sold it few years ago and bought a PC.
That is reality and you can reply what you want!

that's not really a valid argument, the PS2 has been around longer than both the Xbox and GameCube, plus the PS2, like the imac, is more expensive, but that's not really relevant...

i also hate people like that, as a PC user i'm not looking down on those using MACs, i just know that PCs are better as you get more functionality from them, and unlike MAC users, PC users don't have to let everyone know that they're using a PC, therefore in terms of popularity and functionality, PCs are better.
actually, that's wrong, the Amiga is better than the PC and the Macintosh!

If I were using a computer strictly for graphics, 3D anmation, movie editing, etc., I would defiinitely BUY a Mac. A good one. But for general purpose and game-playing (like right now), I'll stick to my PC. Like Eric said, there are pros and cons, not one is better than the other. I find Macs are hard to get used to (interface-wise), but other than that, neither is better than the other.

Not really valid, i agree, i was just trying to open Mr Flibbles eyes up to the fact that even the technically inferior system can be the most popular ... developers haven't dropped the ps2 because it is 'inferior', so why should the mac be frozen out of most gaming? :P (I know about developing for both pc and mac isn't easy, this is why i liked the original idea for halo being on both kinda uniting the two systems..'

Geez, who the hell cares what kind of computers people use?  Mac users make up some 2% of the market share, why bother deriding their machines?  Your precious PCs are hardly being threatened...

I have both a Mac and PC. I use my Mac for Graphic Design, 3d Design, Media Design, Music Recording, and some gaming. As for the scroll bar thing you can buy mouses for Mac's that have the scroll bar.

I use my PC for gaming and a few graphic related things. My G4 Dual Processor is FAR superiour than my PC. But.......... PC's can play ALL games and are better for the game designing I so. Plus I have Microsoft Office XP so I use it for homework.
All systems and computers have their pros and cons. The XBOX is the best, and that is what I own. But I had a Gamecube and traded it in. I regret that because of Skies of Arcadia, FF Crystal Cronicals, Super Smash Bro's, ALL of the Resident Evil's, Metroid Prome, and that new ANIME looking FF game just to name a few.

MOST games on PS2 are on XBOX so I would rather own an XBOX and Gamecube if I could have the 2 systems. Hey! If I had the cash I would own them all!
