night of the hermit; can't use items

I started playing night of the hermit, and i've got the hints and walkthrough, but it's not letting me use any item.  (either on another item, or anything else in the game).  For example, I can't combine the badger meat and bread to make a sandwich.  I've tried clicking 'use-bread-meat' and 'use-meat-bread', but it won't even let me pick up the first item!  Is this a known bug or is it just my computer or what?  Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I played this game a long time ago, but I remember I  had the same problem. What exactly did you already do and what does the hint you hawe say. Becouse I figured it out later on and can't remember how...

Did you actualy talk to the badger?

i say only 1 thingi save ur game at each succes! i mean plaid FLASHBAX and did not save :O (im elloffaaa stubido) got in the cargobay und got stuck i could not save use items.......load..................so started again............... sooo illll say..................

QUIT hold down the ALT key and press F4 (Old stylo quit fer windows ) or save.............thats ool!
