map like TSOMI

In the Secret of Monkey Island they had the map that you could click and go to other parts of the island .
How would you do that ?

Make a room containing the map, and change the player character view to something very small. Then use the 'when player steps on region' trigger to move him to new rooms.

I was kind of thinking that but wanted to ask to make sure .
Think this map I made would work ?

Why not? Just make sure all your walkable areas are more than 3 pixels wide!
