I'm pretty sure I'm in the right forum; as it would help AGS users.

Is there a program that can convert standard music formats to midi?

Gilbert

Depends on what "standard music formats" you meaned (well MIDI IS the standard music format already), but most of the time: no, or next to impossible.

Once you understand what a MIDI file is exactly, you will understand why it is damn near impossible to detect a collection of instruments, separate them, match them to the closest MIDI instrument, and detect each note individually.

How about a s3m to mod/xm converter since s3m doesn't work in ags anymore.

Hmm, that intelliscore doesn't impress me. The midi sounds real odd.

My Google search came up with "Scream Tracker". Have you tried that?

I haven't tried it yet, but if you don't like the sounds just pull the file into a midi editor and change 'em. Still easier than creating the midi from skratch if you already have an audio recording.

Not a musician, I'm afraid... I just wanted something that'll make the conversion...

That program seems to be a pretty sad attempt at converting any live recording into midi. And who knows how much worse it would do with an actual live recording, instead of a midi recorded to a wav file, as all of those mp3s are. I don't think technology is advanced enough for software like this. Don't waste money buying this product.

I completely forgot about that one.
I think I used it on XP and the text was all weird. I'll try it on my old computer.
You know, s3m files worked fine in ags before version 2.61.

well, Scream Tracker is actually used to create the S3M file, the only other file it can output (if i remember right) is MOD which is more limited than S3M, if IT works fine in AGS, then get Impulse Tracker, load the S3M into it, then save it as an IT.
ofcourse, something such as Modplug Tracker could also do it (Modplug Player even lets you)...
converting you're basic music format to midi is very tricky, best thing to do is look for a midi version that already exists, or if it is MOD/XM/S3M/IT modplug tracker can export to midi and lets you set option for instruments but it's really crappy and it's easier to do it yourself.
