Or something similar.

Anyway, I've been a busy little wench for a while, and I thought it'd be time to display some of my MIDIs here to show you chaps how I've been progressing. I'm sure you find the action equally as selfless and charitable as I. Right?

In (very rough) composing order so you can see my hopeful improvement, and the weapon of choice is Winamp, followed by Windows Media Player. I'm afraid Quicktime makes a complete hash of them.

Firstly, The Hub. I think this was the last tune I posted on these fair forums, so consider that the chronological benchmark.

Boss Fight.
Enclosure.
Groovy.
Broken.
March. Sort of majorly unfinished.
Foodbelly. Yes, this was orginally an idea for a Foodbelly theme. I don't consider it finished, but I am rather fond of it, so here it is.
Ronbat. Need I say more?
Minimal. This is where my pieces start to get a bit more sophisticated.
Untitled, for an FPS. It's not anything great, but it helped me get back into composing after an 8-month composing drought.
Flat is one of my favourite pieces.
Hymn is like the easiest piece I ever made, but it works oh-so-well, encompassing a vast spectrum of moods and possible uses, so it's here.
Ruins, starting to branch into ambitious territory.
Desert for a DDR style game. Not quite finished, but it shows some stuff I would have been reluctant to try earlier on.
Slowly is my most recent piece (finished today), and although it has problems, mostly that it can't loop very well, it represents the pinnacle of my composing so far in 'tweaking' - using controllers and other devices to add effects (the most obvious here is the pitch bend).

There are a lot of unmentioned ones here, but these are the tunes that stand out in my efforts to try and make myself as good a composer as I can possibly be. I hope you can see how they develop and try new things as I get more experienced, and what's more, I hope you enjoy the pieces themselves.

Please, do comment on any you like/dislike, I'm always open to suggestions.

I like how none of these songs are repetitive (at least the ones I chose).
Ronbat is especially awesome.   I have a comment on Groovy.  It's almost perfect, but the cymbal in the left channel gets a bit repetitive.  You could try adding some syncopation to the cymbal.

Boss Fight is probably the sexiest MIDI I've ever heard.  :=
I fail at art.

Ok, I'm going to comment as I listen.

The Hub: I like it alot. It builds up nice, although the chords at the start maybe sound a bit strange? But then goes cool at arount 30secs. Very nice. I like the drums now. The ending is a bit weak. I would prefer it with out that little last bit.

Boss Fight: Sounds tense. Mich like old school chase scenes. Would work nicely for a boss scene. Nice ending there.

Enclosure: I like the melody. Nice and peaceful. You have very good composing skills. The background melodies are nice too, at 40secs tho they are a bit fast?

Groovy: Hmm, its got a nice bass line, but it sounds pretty random. The crashing symbol gets annoying after a while.

Broken: Starting nice... I like the strings. It seems a bit short tho.

March: Nice war type music. As you say a bit unfinished. I would like it if that deep drum didn't pause at 23secs. It doesn't seem to get far at the end, it just sorta seems to have no melody to take it home...

Foodbelly: Nice and cheerful. I like it, but the pauses like at 11 secs annoy me. This reminds me alot of Zelda OoT in the forest. The ending needs to have something there, or does it loop?

Ronbat: Nice rock type song. I don't know, its good, but there is something strange with it.

Minimal: Nice and pleasant. The tapping notes seem annoying towards the start, and at 60 secs. Seems like good background music, but the tapping notes get annouying after a while.

Untitled: Nice seems alright, but nothing too special. I really like it at 55 secs.

Flat: Nice bass line with the synth. Very nice sounding, I love it. Maybe add some ride symbol. I don't know, I'm quite fond of that symbol :) I think the ending is a little flat :P, maybe use the run at 2:05 at the end, and build it up.

Hymn: Seems nice. I don't have much to comment on really. Seems a contemplative piece really.

Ruins: Nice although a bit random at times, but I guess thats its style. The ending has some strnage chords there somewhere.

Desert: Its good althogh some work needs to be done on it, like at the end.

Slowley: That wailing guitar doesn't quite go back to its original pitch which is annoying, in that is seems out of tune somehow?. But the piano thingy is nice I think the ending needs a tiny bit of work.

Overall, very very nice composing I like your work alot, and it will be cool to hear more of your music :D

It's a whistly rather than a guitar, and that's purposeful - the off-tune bit on the first pitch bend, but I appreciate the thorough feedback. For those that end strangely, they're designed to loop, all of them :)

FYI, minimal was a piece of minimalist music for GCSE, and as such, I had to use alot of the features from that area of music, hence the repetativeness.

Ta for both of your replies, much valued.
