We already have competitions for graphics and sound but no "writing" type competition (unless you think of puzzle time as writing), so why not? Contestants would submit their work, and at the end of the competition, there will be voting to select the best.
An adventure game forum has no need for a poetry competition, you might say. Why don't you go flush yourself, I might say  :P.
Seriously, we could make the poetry competition adventure themed. For example, one weeks theme could be to write an introduction poem to a game in fantasy setting about a bar janitor (sort of like the intro sequences of Freddy Pharkas or Conquest of Longbow). Another example for rules could be to make a poem that the character would have to chant to summon a horde of vegetable eating zombies (sort of like the spells in Kings Quest 6).
How about it?

I think it would be great!

I'm not a poet, but I like making rhymes [though my english is a bit mediocre].

I think this idea doesn't suck afterall, though I'll never enter due to my non-English speaking nature.

I think it's okay for you to start a thread in the competition board there.

great. I am on my way there. Why shouldn't you join anyways? It doesn't have to be all that sophisticated english anyways. It's all in fun

Nah, I don't want to pee myself reading my own crappy entries. ;D

It's a nice idea, and I have already entered ;)
