Hey everyone,

When I was in one of my "about-to-go-to-sleep" states, I came up with a really good Idea for a game. I said to myself "Wouldn't it be cool if I could take pictures from a digital camera and put them in a game?". Then I started wondering, Why not have both drawings and real pictures in a game. Then the idea kind of evolved into a game where a charactor would altrenate between Pictures and Drawings by using a special door that would send him into the "Real world". Im sure there is a whole bunch of possibilitys with this. But I wanted to see what everyone thought first.

I think it's a good idea, but if you want to make animations in the "real" style, ou'll have to make a walkcycle with photos... and I think that is not going to be easy...

Gilbert

Not a bad idea, but it's not as original as you might have thought of.
For example... (Well not exactly identical to what you're thinking about, but you get the idea.)

Mr Jake

Sam.

Despte what many say, i enjoyed toonstruck and i think your game sounds like a good idea although using gigital photographs might not be such a good idea as it gives SOME people the impresssion that you did a half asssed job and coul be bothered to reate your own backgrounds.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Also, who will you take the pictures of?
Friends? Family?

Yes that is a good thought. You don't want to reveal pics of where you live in case some wacked out sexual predator decides to pay you a visit...

I would feel sorry for the person who spent that much time finding out where I lived by looking at the street names and buildings, only to find out that I am a man..... Unless it's a woman sexaul predator. But they'd have to be really strong and really fast.

If you do it correctly, it could be very good. The problem you might have with taking pictures, is the camera angle. A lot of people who use real photographs in their games, are never consistent with the camera angle, and some rooms are hard to decipher, and aren't in a good perspective. So I'd suggest taking lots of photos of one area and seeing which picture works best in the setting of your game to help relieve the ackwardness.

Another thing to consider, if you haven't done so already, is the character him/herself. Will the character change according to which "realm" he/she is in? I think that would be the wisest thing to do. Because drawn characters clash over real life pictures...it's just not appealing to the eye's, unless they're drawn very well.

In any event, good luck with your adventure pursuits!

Evil

I wanted to make a game sequal to the movie "Mother Goose's Rock'n'Rhyme", a child's movie with truckloads of adult humor.

The idea has been done before, but I still think its a good idea.

Thats an awsome idea!! I diddn't even think about that. But the charactor would have to remain a drawing because I dont have any blue screen type of equipment that I could use to make a "real person" charactor. But I think I will use that (If I ever get around to starting production.)

Well, if you got a friend to walk slowly in various directions, while you took pictures, you could probably manage to get enough for a decent walkcycle. It might be a bit more difficult for more involved animations, but it could work.
