Demo doesn`t start with win 98- only with win95

After starting AGS and loading the Demo game the testing ends üp with  the following message: "An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.exe at EIP = 0xBFF98B68 ; program pointer is -189,ACI version 2.62.772, gtags (0,0)"
There are no problems starting the game on an old laptop (133 Mhz) under win 95. There are  only difficulties drawing  area-lines in rooms.

There is a possible bug with 2.62 that could cause this -- can you try downloading the 2.7 Beta from this thread:

and see if it resolves the problem?

Sorry, the 2.7 Version did not solve the problem.

Do you get the same error message? In particular, is the program pointer still -189?
