Why not? Benedict XVI won't do it much better or worse than any other pope. One thing for sure: Women won't be able to become priests, as long as he is Pontifex Maximus.

Oh come on... that is really unnecessary... not that I am very religious or that I am really offended by those comments and I know you didn't mean that seriously but - please - this is supposed to be 16+ and at that age you're not still in kindergarten...

Anyways, it's a german, it doesn't mean anything and won't change anything here.

I don't yet know what to think about him. We'll see...

Nihilyst is German, and many others AGSers are german too... I just wanted to give the bare information about the Hitler Judent stuff, and I think that the debate can turn into something nice and interesting. I didn't want to make fun about the past of Germany, I want to put this in clear.

Oh HURRAY a new pope! Delicious! Oh boy I am excited, this makes such a DIFFERENCE to my life! I can't wait to see what his stance is on all of the things that I hated the other dude for! I bet they're way different!

Apparently that's the idea - they want to change popes every 10 years or so, so as not to have the same guy for 20-30 years.

By the way - back in german's Hitler days, you HAD to go with the masses, or face the consequences, which resulted in death quite a lot, or being locked up in those KZ things. In the last few months of the war, even kids were forced to fight.

That's why I think that Ratzinger's involvment with the Hitler Jugend doesn't mean anything, really.

He's still damn old-fashioned, though. Nothing's gonna change in the church while he's the pope. But changes aren't likely to happen in the catholic church, anyway.
