After using Firefox now for many months, i upgraded to version 1.0.3 the other day.

But tonight i was browsing as usual and wanted to close out of Firefox by closing it using the X in the top right hand of the screen.

Well, when i did this my computer shut off!! When it restarted and i reopened Firefox, all my Bookmarks were gone!!  I have never had this problem before and i'm wondering if it's the latest update to Firefox that is causing this.

It sucks, because i had a lot of bookmarks that i have to get back.

Has this happened to any other Firefox users that are using version 1.0.3?

I use 1.0.3. I've experienced no weird problems...

It's weird beacuse my history remained intact and also my themes, but the bookmarks just deleted themselves.  Oh well, it shouldn't take that long to get them back.

I used to keep alot of bookmarks within the browser screen for easy browsing, and they too dissapear.  Very weird.

I haven't heard of/experienced this problem either.  As for bookmarks, etc., whenever a version of FF comes out, I backup bookmarks, uninstall FF and reinstall the new version.  Maybe something to keep in mind for the future?

Good question though: Is this an update over the old version or a complete uninstall/reinstall?

While we're on this subject, does anyone have any idea why any audio or video files I download through Firefox end up heavily distorted or totally unplayable? And is there any way to stop it? I'm pretty much a Firefox convert now, so it's annoying to have to switch back to IE every time I want to get one of those files.

Hmm I'm not sure about either problem. I know sometimes when I close firefox, it keeps the process running, and when you open it up again, it asks you to choose a profile. Quite annoying, but I think it's an issue with one of the extensions.

I had this EXACT problem, it's due to a corrupt bookmark file, windows tells you in one of those annoying little error popups. I just reinstalled firefox and made new bookmarks :/
