Star Wars mini rant...

The thing is, I don't have a problem with people not liking the new films - lots of people have valid, intelligent arguments explaining what they feel the problems are and I respect that and agree with a lot of them. Hell, I thought episode 1 was a horrendous mess for the longest time for a lot of sensible reasons, and don't feel all that differently now.

But it just gets so boring reading the same old obvious complaints again and again and again. I kind of lost most of my interest in Star Wars years ago, and then when I watched the prequels for the first time in ages, not really caring either way, I realised that there's plenty of stuff to enjoy in there.

Not as much as there is in Return Of The Jedi, though. I love that film! I was pretty shocked when I found out how much all the hipster geeks out there hate it. And hipster geeks control the world!

I dug Return quite a bit.  OF course, part of that is from childhood memories of waiting in a line stretching around the block with my dad.  It was the first SW movie I saw and it made me want to see the rest of 'em.

I liked Ep III, there's just a bit to complain about.  I was hoping for more questions to be addressed but it seemed a good return to the spirit of IV-VI.

As PP said, "It's always been B-movie quality." Correct. I phrased my bit poorly. It was enjoyable partially because of its return to B-movie sequences and dialog vs. the pretentious drama of the previous two. Some of the dialog, however, seemed more Nickelodeon-inspired, but without the depth."

I have no idea where all these people see the thing.  I just got lucky that I work for Pixar and they've got a good relationship with Lucasfilm.

It's unfortunate that it always says Spoiler Below.  Anyway, it's in response to custard's responses to my previous.  Regardless of hiding, I don't want to give out any plot details.  Maybe that's rhetoric on your part, if the dialogue is at the expected level.

Don't worry Vince, I'm sure it sucked ^_^

The thing with prequels and sequels IMO is that people expect too much from them. If they stood alone i believe, some could do much better.
I think it could be also a good thing that the I-III episodes were made in a different way than the latter trilogy, because that trilogy ended there, and this is a new trilogy.

Also, a new question has come to my mind. Would the 1st trilogy be more succesful, or would we feel it in another way if it was published first, and if it would be, what would you think, how would the first trilogy been made in the 70ies.

Ok, i somehow lost my real point, but I always thought it was more cool, and more original and more for the story that the IV-VI were made first.

Just went to the midnight show ...

First impression was that it was great.  Lots of action and FINALLY got to see that transformation I've been waiting soooo long to see.

It was long and had a lot of information ... much to digest.

Ian McDiarmid stole the show.  He was just incredible.

There were a few things left out that I was hoping to see, but I feel it segways nicely into the original trilogy.

I made a t-shirt for tonight.  It's all white and in black it says, "PREQUEL HATERS SUCK" ... it got a lot of laughs :)
