Hey guys, here's a character from the game I'm working on.Ã,  Her name is Jessie and she's an angsty little punk.Ã,

I know the shading leaves a bit to be desired, but I think I have her "personality" captured pretty accurately.Ã,  She's supposed to look about 18 years old, and if it's at all relevant, she's a fashion design student.

Hey it's pretty good mon.

Keep it up.

Scummbuddy

I might say add some elbow pixels to the front and back views. And they eyes and head placements on the side views indicate different things. I would use those for specific things, not just their stop-walk view frame0. Like, if you told her to look up at something to interact with, then go with the image 3.

I would remove, on the side views, the outmost red crotch pixel.

On her front view, her waist seems to be a pixel row lower than on the others.

I really like this character, and definitly get her personality. I really can't wait to see more.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

It looks like you have just left the torso the same for the back view and the front view. It might pay to put in different detail and different-ish shape.
E.g. - Boneyness
       - muscles
You have done the same for the legs as well.
Best to put in different shading on the knees so when the character turns around in your game, it doesn't look like just a head turning and a logo appearing on her shirt (if you get what I mean)

But other than that it looks good.   :)

Nine Toes

The only problems I have with it, are:
1. Everything Scummy said.
2. Her butt's too big. ...I mean with the side views, the rear view looks okay, but to me it looks like her gluteus maximus suddenly... inflates once she turns to the side.

Other than that, it's a decent sprite. :)
Watch, I just killed this topic...

I agree with Hyde: in the left and right views, the legs, and particularly the butt, are too big! I would suggest making it smaller even in the front and back ones, though.
The hair are longer in the side views than in the front view.
And I think the belt should be more curved in the front and back view.

But very nice char till now.

Umm... I really like this sprite, it's very nice, but...

Yeah, the butt is - absolutely - too big. I know it can be massive, but on the side views it looks just bad (yuck! ;)). Is she wearing a combat trousers? Moreover, I think that something is wrong with her arms. She is a punk, so why not adding some punk accessories (like a variously earrings, some spikes, nails... or maybe a collar around her neck)?

PS: I don't know why, but I like her black look at the first image. ;)

Love it! She has lots of character and that's really the best complimet you can get for a sprite :) Maybe you could just fix her head in side-view a little bit.. but that's about it, as far as my critic goes..

Dart

You JUST got pimped from the D to the A to the ...RTzibit? o_O

Basically what I did was try to level off certain parts of your side view with your front view, such as the eyes, the mouth, hair, belt, purple stuff on her shirt and shoes.

You can probably disregard my hair edit, or let it be only an inspiritation or guide... it's 7AM and Dartzibit is a bit tired. :P

Abisso

There's still the belt (not curved) problem, and in the side view, the trousers have got a line of pixels more than needed (in the front), and oversized legs and butt (in the rear).
The hair level is now ok, but I preferred Ivy's output for facial expression (in the side view).

Raider

The pants look like the suspended clown pants.
Just remopve the pixels in the front of it and it will look a lot better.

It's a very well done character, so the only real problems I could find with it were different forms of shading and pose differences.  I corrected what issues (in my opinion only) would improve this sprite, but you may like the older version better.

Things I changed:

1.  Background color.  This was important because it was set to the same index as the whites of her eyes and therefore would have made them transparent.

2.  Uniform shading.  Basically, everything on the left is light and everything on the right is dark.

3.  Widened her upper arm slightly.

4.  Gave her ears.  From the view of the pigtails, it seems as though her ears should be visible.  I also gave her an earring.

5.  Tilted her back on frames 1 and 3.  This was done so she did not appear to stoop so much.

6.  Adjusted her shape.  Basically I just went through and lifted her buns, tightened her chest just a bit.

7.  Altered front view face.  The original is larger than the side views, so I corrected it.

8.  Adjusted her expression to match the different directions.

Most of these changes are cosmetic and can be disregarded if you like.  I hope this helps.

It's quite perfect now. Apart from the facial expression, that I would let unchanged (from original Ivy's version).

The Ivy

Thanks for all the critiques, guys.Ã,  The feedback is really encouraging.Ã,  I tweaked a few things with the sprite and here's what I came up with:

Yes, she is supposed to be wearing combat-type pants and boots, and I'm amazed that you picked up on that.Ã,  I tried to make them look "baggy" without making her appear excessively chubby.Ã,  Also, I added that trendy arm cuff, moved around some shading, fixed some of the irregularities with the hair and belt, and made her a bit slimmer.

There was a rather lively discussion about her butt.Ã,  There were a lot of good suggestions, and I know a few of you would like to send her to the "Sprite gym."Ã,  Sorry, but no.Ã,  She's not a model, she's a teenager, and there's nothing wrong with having a bit of a swing on your back porch.Ã,  :P

I'm really happy with the way she turned out, and once again thanks to you guys for your input.Ã,  Now, onto the rest of the game.Ã,  8)

Abisso

She's ok, now. And, anyway, the butt is, or seems, smaller now. And the legs are thinner for sure (as you removed that line of extra pixels in the front).

I can't wait to play with her (no second meaning).  ;D
