Still AGS version 2.62?

I'm a bit baffled that nobody have said anything about the main page of AGS does still say version 2.62 and that you download AGS 2.62 when version 2.7 is actually released. Why's that? How come that? How come nobody ever say anything about it?

Read the sticky thread carefully, CJ will update the page in "a week or so". :)

Mats Berglinn

Oh, I didn't see that but I still think it's about time to be updated.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

No it's not. :) It never is until the version is as stable as it gets. Trust CJ - if he'd already updated, there's at least one bug that only recently got spotted, and there would be an official version of AGS with at least one bug - one that is apparently easy to correct but has been overseen (I'm referring to Ginny's and Strazer's latest posts in the 2.7 thread). CJ prides himself (I think, and if he don't then he should) on releasing the best he can. He wants to make sure, 's all, and with a change as big as this it's only natural that it should take a long time.

Trust CJ

No truer words were ever spoken.  Trust in CJ, my son, and the Path to Enlightenment shall open before you.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

More than the Path to Enlightenment - the Path of Creation!

And sometimes the patch of creation too. Every time a new version comes out, in fact. :=

It's a bit of a catch 22, really. I try to leave it "unofficially" released for as long as possible so that bugs can be spotted; but by leaving it unofficial, most people don't use it and so don't find the bugs.

At some point you just have to draw the line and release it anyway, but it's always best to make sure it gets as thoroughly tested as possible before doing so.

Haddas

Why don't you do like some sites. Have stable release and beta releases side by side.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Isn't that what he already does? Except the beta releases are not posted in the main site... which is fair enough, since most people who don't bother to check the forums and/or the sticky at the top of Technical are, more often than not, the people who prefer to have stable, tried-and-true releases, as opposed to betas.

I'm waiting for 3.0. A program with that low of a version number CAN'T be good!

They're gone. I looked for them a while ago, and nothing satisfying turned up... :/

..though, I had a way of seeing those posts, but it don't seem to work anymore ¬¬

There is no try. Just see the posts. Or as one of the orphans said: "There is no post".
