With the success and fun had with the guitar challange, Wouldnt it be a good idea to have a sort of AGS battle of the bands? Maybe not a competition but just an activity, whatever would work best. What do you think?

Evil

I was thinking the same thing too. But my band doesn't have enough of our own material to "battle". Though we did get the best crowd reaction at my high school's botb.

PsychicHeart

ingenious cam! this will give bands in their "garage days" a chance to show the world (or at least the AGS community) what they can do.

PS: I know i should post the following in the ACR Thread but since this is on a musical note i will save the trouble of writing a new one. Anyhoo, i need a couple of bands to put some of their songs on my upcoming game, UNSIGNED BANDS AND SINGERS THIS IS YOUR CHANCE! Preferably either rock or hip-hop, but yknow, just keeepin' it real.
Formerly known as Flukeblake, Flukezy etc.

Chicky

Sounds like a great idea Cam. We'd surely enter a few of our tracks.

Squinky

I'd throw out a couple of my bands tracks, but there on cd and i have no idea how to get them down to a reasonable size to be internet friendly...

Blackthorne

Yeah, that would be fun.  There's a lot of diversity in musical taste amongst AGS musicians, too, but it's nice to hear what other people are doing.  I've posted some of my tracks before - and people generally liked them.

I'd love to hear what other people are doing.

Squinky - You could convert the audio tracks on the CD into .ogg or .mp3 format with CDex.

Rincewind

Well, since I've got some of my bands new songs uploaded already, I could just link them here if this thing gets going. Could be fun, methinks. :) I'm on, for sure.
I dunno if it should be a competition, though - It would just be fun to share and hear what all the AGS'ers have to offer. :)

Here are two of the songs featured on our new demo with Ingnis, unfortunately unmixed at the moment - We can't get them mixed until august, I'm afraid, but this is at least the songs... :)Ã,  Just right-click and choose "save as..." if you're interested.

Schizophrenia
Parasite Dreams
Between me and my eyes

Squinky

Yeah good stuff man. I'm not a real fan of the vocal style, but it seems solid...

Rincewind

Ah, thanks, Chicky/Squinky! Glad to hear that someone appreciates it! :)
And we do have songs without growls and more based around clean vocals as well, so if you're turned off by the gut-wrenching part of my vocals I can always upload one of them too. ;)

Evil

Yes, very nice Rincewind. I'm not too fond on the vocals either but the dual on Parasite Dreams about half way through sounds great. Schizophrenia has a great riff, but the timing sounds weird. All still awesome.

Chicky

Bah! The vocals rock!  :D Really black metal!

[Cameron]

I take it everyones for it? If so I'll start a thread in competitions and activitys board.

Evil

What are the "rules" before a thread is started?

[Cameron]

Hmmm..... Is there anything rules would need to be set in place for?

LGM

1. Don't steal other bands' work.
2. Don't brag, namecall or do anything childish
3. OGG and MP3 only. No WAV or FLAC or something stupid like that.
4. If you post something from your band, you must critique the other bands.. As they will you.
5. 3 song maximum submission.

In the end, everyone will vote. Say, in about a month or so. That gives enough time to get at least one song recorded.

How bout that?
You. Me. Denny's.

[Cameron]

I'll use those rules. Maybe a few tweaks. See you in the activites lounge.

rtf

Can I enter as a solo person?
I fail at art.

[Cameron]

Yesh. LGM already has, so you can too!
