MrColossal

Hey there!

My name is eric and this is what I've been up to for the past few months.

I started working with some dudes on their mod project called Plan of Attack

http://www.planofattackgame.com/

I'm an artist over there [obviously] and modeller and general art direction and such... So I just wanted to pop on in and let people know about it, I think it's a wicked fun mod and keeps getting better with each new release. The new Beta is due out soonish which will have a new map, more bug fixes and new models textures by me, which you can see here:

I'd love it if some people here played it and spread the word! We've been in 5 I think magazines so far and featured on a few cover disks and awarded Super Mod! by a german games magazine which is sweet.

So yea, either check it out now or wait for the next beta, either way I hope who ever plays it likes it!

... so, what's the code for the secret bluecup? ¬¬

MrColossal

Sorry no bluecup... YET!!

But there is an achtungfranz easter egg in there

FPS sucks, so this will not be an exception. :=

I played a beta for this a long time ago when it was first sorta advertised. I had fun but had major lag as there wern't many servers at all, and none in Australia. I'll give it another go, especially now as I know that eric has contributed.

Evil

Looks very promissing. The screen shots remind me a lot of Delta Force. The character models look almost identical. However the weapons, levels, and game play look outstanding. I'll be sure to download.

LGM

Normally I don't enjoy strategic games because.. Well.. I suck at strategy.. But then again I often give up before I get anywhere. So maybe this will be a chance to like it. Especially since none other than Mr.Colossal is working on it. It HAS to be good! :)

Ubel

It looks good but I hate this kind of games. Sorry :=

Redwall

I love playing these kind of games despite my complete suckitude at them. Downloading!

Also, the story is hilarious. :-*

I've played this before, it replaced my Counter-Striker playing for a long time, definitely a great mod, and the modelling is most excellent.

If you don't mind me asking, what is "over there"?  Is there some type of office building/musky basement everyone meets up at?

InCreator

Not bad, I must say.

Still, I hate what you did to movement - the usual CSS/HL2 type of smooth running is replaced with piratey wooden peg leg blah blah limping.

And HL2 engine features excellent physics... why is it totally cut out in this mod? No physically manipulated objects at all! Even windows aren't breakable...

What a waste.

And... if it comes to level design, painted-on-door-handles suck balls.

Apart from that, it looks quite interesting. Pity that I couldn't find a server to get to feel it for real.

MrColossal

Increator, I have no idea what you're talking about.

"piratey wooden peg leg blah blah limping" means absolutely nothing to me.

"No physically manipulated objects at all! Even windows aren't breakable.." Yes there are and there are tons of windows to break and things to push around in Spark and Blaze and Loading and Industrial and Light. There are no windows in Prison.

Bumping into things doesn't knock them over like in CS:S, if you press the use key you can push objects around. This is so you can actually stand on physics objects and use them strategically unlike CS:S where if you get to close to a phys object you get pushed back.

Painted on door handles are for doors that don't open. It's a visual clue that this door is inoperable.

Earlwood: At the Plan of Attack studios of course! It's an office space at a local college 2 mintues from me [what are the odds!]

LGM: The strategy isn't a main focus of the game, it comes down to picking your objective and either trying to outwit the other team and pick an objective they wouldn't expect or to guess the correct objective the other team picked [depending on whether you're attacking or defending] Then there is the strategy which helps keep the team together and pull of moves normally impossible in online FPS games like coordinated flanking and feinting.

But...
moving around does feel weird and somewhat clumsy!

Chicky

yes, i must agree with inC i also noticed that. The 'jumpduck' seems extremely shakey, but ohwell. I loved the mod otherwise, i completely sucked at it but it was still great fun.

Redwall

The main thing I noticed is that the Gunner and Ranger classes are for the most part useless (either that or very under-utilized).

Quite fun anyway though.

Just wanted to bump this with an update, FINALLY the beta with all my new art has been released! I painted the textures for the new player models and touched up the gun textures [especially the Benelli, YEESH] and did a bunch of props and things for the new map Blaze.

So check it out if you want, I'll be playing because I love the game!
