Can't open the AGS Manual

I'm not sure what's wrong because it used to open fine before.

Now when I try to open Help (F1), or manually open the file ags-help,
the contents list & index is displayed but I can't open any topic.

I get a "Action canceled" or "The page cannot be displayed" error.

Help please!  Thanks!

I had this problem.
When you click on the chm file, if a warning box comes up select "Never ask for this file type".
Worked for me.

Or try re-extracting the help file.  That might do it.

Interesting how unchecking the box makes a difference. Ã, This is clearly a Windows XP security issue.

I think the tutorials are outdated or something, that'd probably be it.

I prefer using the help file since every scripting command is there along with how to use it.  And since there's an index, info is easy to find.

I've used many programs, and I've yet to find a tutorial which covered ALL of the commands and ALL of the possibilities, though some great tuts came very close to it. Tutorials are for learning, not mastering. The manual is a valuable source of information. This is for Corey and for everyone who thinks the tutorials are enough and so don't bother with the manual. Don't take me wrong, now, it's just that the tutorials are not enough. And everything - everything! - you're ever likely to need to know is in there. Hence the whole "Read the manual before you ask" thing.

well most of the time programs have a stupid "help" that doesnt help you add all, then you better use tutorials but if you guys say the "help" is helpfull ill check it out sometime

the help file is the ags manual, which we INSIST that you read, at least scan, (read quickly through) before posting any questions on the forums.

All the answers are there. The only tutorial I've ever read is the scripting tutorial in the manual. Aftar that, I just started toying around with the functions I found from the manual. And it payed off, through some trial and error, but it sure was fun, in the end.
