!!!! RUNTIME CACHE ERROR: CACHE INCONSISTENT: RESETTING
!!!! At size 21172552 (of 20971520), start 148 end 420Ã,  fwdlink=148
Ã,
this is the message that i get when i use an object on a hotsopt which takes the player to another room then a new object in the other room runs view (#).
the view gets half way through then this error pops up. i have tested this in many ways. if i start my character with the same inventory items that i would if i got to this point. and with the one item to start this view this dosn't happen at all. but if i work up to this point from the beging of my game this is when is takes place. if some one has got some in site let me know please or if more in fo is needed please let me know also. i tried to explane this in full. oh yes in the actual error box it said some thing about the cursor at +5

Is your game graphics intensive?
Is that animation view using large sprites?
What's the resolution and colour depth it's in?
How much RAM do you have?

Try increasing the sprite cache size in the game's setup and see if that helps.

corpsehere

i have 480 ram, 640 400 on graphics setting. bit depth is 24 on each of my bmps and the veiws are 640x400 each frame. i have set up the cache 20mb helps me on loading but still i have the same problem. i dont draw well so the graphics are not intensive that i know of. if you need to know more let me know. thanks for helping so far.

Gilbert

Whether graphics is intensive is not related to your drawing abilities.
From what I see the graphics is indeed very intensive in your game, if your sprites are 640x400 each, they're VERY large.

For a 640x400 16-bit hicolour sprite (well I suppose your game's colour depth is 32-bit truecolour, that will double things up), it's already  using:

640 * 400 * 2 = 512000 (bytes) = 500 KB

How many frames do you have in that animation?
Is it really necessary to make the graphics that large in it?

corpsehere

well i see what you are saying. the bitmaps are large
it is an view with 18 to 19 frames. i didnt think that the size of the sprits would cause a problem that is why i made this game that way. my other views that
are that size run just fine and i have about 20 of them.
on my next game i plan on doing it another way but being my first game i did not know. now i have played through my game again and i had no error popup at all this time but my cursor wint wacky on me it made a row of them and took part of the background with it. and it was as long as the whole board that i was on.this happend on the same view i have had this problem with.

Which version of AGS are you using?

Is there any chance you could upload the game for me to take a look at?

Well, do you have a website that you're planning on uploading your game to when it's finished?

All you need to do is zip up the contents of the game folder into a zip file and upload it to a web site.

If you don't have a web site and the zip file is fairly small, you could e-mail it to me.
