Really screwed up game.

I didnt know where to post this to i posted it here. I had an idea. Make a real screwed up game. Here's the idea: Everyone who wants to contribute send something that could be a part of a game. It could be a background, a character, a song etc.

Actually, I think this belongs in Gen. discussion if you want to make it a competition or activity in the C&A forum.

I like the concept of sending all the work of many people together to create one Ã¼ber-game, but there are some problems. For one, who would compile all these backrounds, characters and songs? I can imagine it as a competition OR and activity... either way though, it sounds like a good idea. I can imagine it will be very screwed up, but funny as HELL. It's the stresses of scripting, without the burden of everything else! It sounds very good, and will probably get many games made and motivate those lazy bums out there to get up and make a game (including myself...

)

Oh please, this is extremely not thought through. Your only idea is to make a "screwed up" game, and that people should send you material.
Furthermore, if people fail to show interest, never bump your own thread. That's common sense.
And lastly, the competition forum has way too many competitions as it is, so if you're dying to start something in that forum, hold on until you get a really good idea.

Wait... I'm confused... isn't the whole point of this thread to think the idea through? That's what I thought... I mean, it's not in Gen. discussion so it's currently not being voted on having as a comp. And isn't that what we do in group brainstorming? Come up with a basic idea and work it through?

Bumping up you're own thread is always wrong. Especially when the thread is only in the middle of the page. But you shouldn't just start yelling at him for the idea.

Well, that's nice. I knew that. But if I get banned for saying that, then this forum is pretty much run by tyrants. It's like in some of those 3rd world nations where people get shot for saying things about their leader that don't include benevolent, beloved, or any other kind of word like that. Plus it's not like I was insulting or sarcastic... I was pointing something out.

I think andail is expressing his opinion as a member more than enforcing rule as a moderator.

he doesn't like the idea, can he not post that he doesn't?

I also don't see victor asking for help coming up with the game ideas, just wants content.

my advice, do random google image searches and try and think up an idea off those images.

Sorry for the late reply, King. But let me say that no one, NO ONE, including hackers, pissers, stupids... has been banned of AGS. Why should be you the first? You've only expressed your feelings, gently, I must add, about an act of a moderator. No problems. This is not gestapo.

You are not a hacker, pisser or a stupid, as fas as I know.

The point is that moderators are in a pyramid where they can see better than us.

You might be a soldier in the middle of a battlefield, and your enemy might be escaping. They are a group od 40 soldiers, and you are 400. You might think it is time to crush them.

But the pharao, from his pyramid, says "no!"

You might think he is silly. You are right and pursuing the enemy is a good choice... from your point of view. But the pharao sees that there is a group of 10,000 enemy soldiers behind a hill, preppairing an ambrush. See? Both are right, but as the pharao has a better view, his choice is better.

Same here with moderators. Andail has been here for ages, and he has seen at least 40 attempts like the one vict0r wants to do. And all of them have failed. So... trust more in moderators. They're wise, not because they're better, but because they've been here for a long time.

hehe...and more importantly, like Eric said, it wasn't like I locked the thread or anything. I just said that the idea seemed very rashly planned, and that it would likely fail as an activity. The spirit and general attitude of this forum is that you must try and make your own games first, before trying to make people do it for you.

King Nipper, I don't know if you watched some sort of revolution-themed movie just before posting, but that was just way too melodramatic.
You have to be substantially more bad-ass before getting banned from this place

Weeeeh... What did I smoke when I wrote that? Pharaos, soldiers, ambrushes... I prefered it when it was in a hidden place, not in gen gen... :
