This is the floor of a building.
It is overview! You see it from above.
It is made out of rocks. It is a fantasy game so this is kind of a castle (or maybe the barracks?)
It is empty cause I've just started and want to see if this is the right way to go.
It is suposed to look like plates, one next to another, kind of like tiles (if I'm using the right word)
Shoot!

PS. This is also my absolute first try in Photoshop!

PS2. This is not the whole BG, just a part. It is small, so that it can be downloaded quickly.

Any paintovers, any ideas, any pointers to any tutorials are welcome. Actually anyhting is welcome, cause I don't think that this is good.. :(

I don't mean to sound rude, but it seems like you've just used one of the texture effects in photoshop on a grey surface.

It's a nice texture but it would probably look better as a wall rather than a floor.

Well, I actually use about 20 different textures to get this result. I'm tottally ignorant when it comes to graphics and especially photoshop (which seems like an art to me!).

HELP!

It does look like a wall doesn't it?
Any quick short (don't mean to disturb you), advice on how to turn this thing into a floor?

Of course keep in mind that there are going to be walls, shadows, things, items, sprites... a lot more...

PS. Be rude! I'm stupid at graphics, you can say it, I can admit it, but I'm honest with myself and I'll keep trying. (That's the spirit... ;D_

Sorry but I don't like it very much because it don't seem like it's made of rock... :P It's red in some areas...
I would convert it to grayscale to make it more realistic and I would put less light and more contrast, but good tryÃ,  :)
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.

I'm not sure if this is what you're after, but it may give you some ideas.

It's a page about pixelling and tiling techniques.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

I drew a very quick tileset

I didn't bother trying to remove the tiling.
3 shades and a 4th one on the alternative floor tile. Just to get SOME kind of variation. But it was a quick one so I didn't bother perfecting it that much. 16x16 tiles.
