Hi all. i'm making a full length adventure game called: Jonathan Harker in...Ã,  MYSTERY IN A BOTTLE.Ã,  Ã,  It's the first of many hopefully!

I need voices though. Male AND Female. Here are a few example lines of what characters i need for the moment (i could get away with 1 person playing 2 or more parts).

Jonathan. Main character. (American/possibly english)
" Hey, excuse me, could you open up the gate?"
" I don't think so"
" That fake beard looks like a dead rat!!!"

Nicole. (side Kick) (a faint french accent or something similar)
"Oh, hi jonathan. Whats up?"
"I don't believe it!"
"Perhaps you should check out the docks"

Bad Guy (please suggest a name) Thick German accent or something similar
"Get Lost, you American Pig"
"No, now go away"
"OK, but while i'm gone....DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!"

DanClarke

Sounds very broken sword-ish, the american, german bad guy and french girl called nicole all ring bells ;) lol.

Redwall

Perhaps you should provide evidence that you're far enough along to require voices?
aka Nur-ab-sal

"Fixed is not unbroken."

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

If the character is THE Jonathan Harker from Bram Stoker's Dracula then he should be English.  If he is not then you should SERIOUSLY consider changing the name.

There are plenty of names you could choose for an evil german type, like...

Klaus von WeltSchmerz

Richter Geistlich

Ubel

Do you have a website? Any screenshots from the game? A demo? Some music perhaps? ANYTHING you could share with us? Cause I tell you, nobody will most probably join your team if they don't know anything about the game.

Anyways, good luck with finding your actors!

ManicMatt

Yeah, I love voice acting, but I need to see something on this game!

It sounds like you've barely started anything, if you don't know the nationalities for sure.

Am I right?

Lastly, I too got reminded of broken sword.

stu

cut him some slack guys..
why don't you trust him? i mean look, he..
a. hasn't been here 2 months yet,
b. has 8 posts,
c. and has not released any games here.

oh wait, yeh..
dude, don't that we don't believe you're ready for voice actors, but we want proof!

Ace_Gamer

ok. i have a few backgrounds and rooms and wat ever. could make a demo i supose and release it.
The name: Jonathn Harker is my own creation. didn't know it was used in some other thing
i'll get to work on some scripts.
not sure how to post screen shots btw

Darth Mandarb

Since nobody else has mentioned it ... This type of request is what the ACR Thread is for.

Check the Help Link in the navbar up top for the "how to" stuff and search the boards for places to post screenshots.  There are several options available.  Also, before you release the demo make sure you read the forum rules of the Games in Production board.

Best of luck!

a few small details:

Here is Jonathan Harker (the main character- btw he needs someone to do his voiceÃ,  ;) )

Nicole: now doesn't have to be french- thinking an english accent.

ManicMatt

Hmmm looks very early in production to me. While the graphics are nice enough, I personally wouldn't want to record hours of dialog for nowt and then you get bored of making your game and cancel the project. Can you understand my doubt?

...and I might need to buy myself a better microphone! (See thread in general discussion)

Ace_Gamer

trust me, i WON'T get bored and quit. i've spent a year writing out the story already and now i'm ready to put it onto computer! ;D i just need to know that i can count on people for voices.

TheYak

There are still enough people on dial-up that even Talkie games are often released in a no-voice form.  Seeing as how it's not too difficult to add voices after the game and dialogue is finalized, why not get the game (at least in rough form) hashed out first?

Seeing the environment, characters and sensing the pacing of the scene would probably help your actors as well.
[Lacking talent in both acting and faking accents, I'll sadly pass on the opportunity, best of luck though]

Ace_Gamer

ok! heres what i'll do. i'll make the game then i'll get some voice actors! :)

Kinoko

Awesome!

There are so few people like you that will actually listen to good advice. I salute you, good sir. You have my respect :) Seriously, good luck with the game.

Ace_Gamer

I'll back with a new thread (or in this one if it still exists) in about 7-8 months with (hopefully) the full game, minus the voices! ;D

Mr. Mozzarella

yeah, but please give the bad guy a different nationality  8)  ;)

ManicMatt

Yes, make a note of my username, and let me know when you're done! Then we can talk.
(At that point I can email you a small wav file of my voices and you can judge if I'm any good)

Ace_Gamer

the nationality of the bad guy is just a guideline, i just wanted some other nationality other than english or american (or australian) but still speaks english, but has an accent.....mmm maybe bulgarian or something ???

O.K ManicMatt. i'll be calling on your services once i have completed aprox. half of the game. :)  i look forward to working with you.
P.s you could also do some other parts too.(if you wanted) coz i don't think i'll get enough voice actors for ALL parts
