Hello.

Christmas is coming. Every morning (and afternoon) of Christmas Eve various Christmas shows are shown (at least here in Finland) but it seems the same cartoons get repeated every Christmas. So I was wondering, what are some of your favourite Christmas shows?

My list includes:
- The Snowman (pure classic, Christmas is not Christmas without this one)
- From all of us to all of you (another classic, especially I love the part with Donald wrapping presents!)
- A Garfield Christmas Special
- A Charlie Brown Christmas/Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! (actually, I just saw this recently. But I have read the book so many times. Rocks. \,,/)
- Mickey's Christmas carol (I remember getting this one for Christmas when I was about six years old. I love it)
- The Small One (aww)

Anything you would add? Some "must see"s? Tell me!

Cheers.

I just heard on the radio the other day that the Charlie brown christmas was somewhere around 40 years old....

Movies I consider holiday classics are that Christmas movie with Chevy Chase (?) national lampoons or something like that, and that one with the kid thats always being told he'll shoot his eye out....

Not somewhere around 40 :) A Charlie Brown Christmas celebrated its 40th anniversary this year!  It's definitely a holiday classic of mine!

Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story are also on my list.

As well as Scrooged (w/ Bill Murray).

I have a lot of things that remind me of Christmases of the past.

Cartoons, video games, smells, music ... it all takes me back.

Privateer Puddin'

Bernard and the Genie.

Written by Richard Curtis (lots of things, blackadder etc) with Lenny Henry, Alan Cumming and Rowan Atkinson.

Basically, this guy gets fired and dumped, being all depressed rubs a lamp, leads to an explosion and Lenny Henry comes out as a Genie then it's just fun after that :D

Paper Carnival

This not really in the "Christmas spirit" but it's related. Here's a video that talks about the Great Deception of Satan disguised as Santa Clause.. You can't miss this one!

http://www.blowthetrumpet.org/TheGreatDeceptionVideo.htm

It's a video trying to prove that Santa is Satan in disguise. I don't mean to start any debates out of this, I just think it's too funny. I don't have a clue whether this is a joke or a serious attempt to reach out to "deceived" people...

Alistor Sims Chrismas Carol, absolute MUST!
saw scrooged resently on TV, laughed a lot, but not a classic in my family. same goes for lampoons chrismas vacation.
But we ALWAYS watch a s. xmas carol, ALWAYS

Diner For One

This is a "traditional" here in Germany and I believe I can speak for all Europe (definately England). It's about that old guy, that serves diner and always stumbles over that lion-head-foot-thing... (you know what I mean, don't you?!)

  • Miracle on 34th Street

  • It's a Wondeful Life

  • "and that one with the kid thats always being told he'll shoot his eye out...." - isn't this the one where some kid gets his tongue frozen to the school's flag pole at recess?

AlbinoPanther

Our country is stupid we could choose from country music to lousy TV shows with lousy actors and bad story.

So we will left TV off on christmas

P.S. So you can enjoy all this beautiful cartoons and you are happy about it guess what we are not :'(

The only one i really liked and haven't seen in ages is Emmet Otter's Jug-band Christmas. A Jim Henson film from 1977, that would make me park my ass in front of the TV everytime it was on when i was a kid.

There was just something special about the whole production, and the music that really made me feel good.

anybody else love this movie as a kid?

Scummbuddy

If you're a fan of the phenomenal series, then the Very Venture Brothers Christmas is fantastic. It parodies a few classic scenes from classic christmas movies at the beginning, then goes to bring it's own christmas character creation into the spotlight. I can see that the beast will be a cult favorite for years.

A Kramp

Spirit who once rode side-by-side with St. Nikolas each Christmas Eve, delivering terrible punishment to wicked children as Claus bestowed his gifts upon the righteous. (Germanic in origin) It carries reeds and uses them to whip the punishable, and even has a sack on it's back to wisk away the trouble-some children. He SURELY knows if you've been bad or good.

And you gotta love the horrid Star Wars Christmas Special

- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

"Dinner For One" is more of a New Year's tradition actually, which is aired on New Year's Eve on about every public channel in Germany. As far as I know, this tradition onky exists in Germany and German-speaking countries. The sketch is hardly known in the English-speaking world, including Britain, its actual birthplace.
Thinking about it, that's a really strange tradition we have there. Even though, it is broadcasted in English without subtitles, I don't know anybody here in Germany who hasn't seen it and knows at least a few lines by heart. My grand-mother can actually talk along with the actors during the whole sketch and she doesn't speak a word of English.
For me, it's not New Year's Eve without seeing it at least once.

Yes. A Christmas Story, which Darth mentioned. It's a true classic.

Venus/dkh, you're absolutely right. Dinner for one is an absolute classic. They hardly ever air it here (South Africa), but one time my mom (who's of German descent) rented it and we couldn't stop laughing!

Ah, memories.

Squinky

Scummy, I love the Venture Brothers but I haven't seen that episode, I gotta check it out....

Christmas sucks...
I was going to post my favourite cartoons and then my brother said Santa Claus does not exist!...

Is that true??...is it?..   :'(

We call Santa Claus "Papá Noel" here in Argentina (and in almost every country where people speak spanish)

Btw ~ MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! (ho ho ho)..
QuoteWell, one think is not liking him, and the other is making humour of the retarder people!
