Paper Carnival

Hey

I took the advice I got here and improved some things, like the hands.

Note that the following drawings look twice as good on the actual paper, they lost a lot of colour due to the scanning (especially the blood). I used pencil, an ordinary pen, black + light-blue + bright red + geen + purple ink and a yellow highlighter.

Yes I know his head is too big and his hand too small. This was much better as in pencil but I screwed up the inking. The poem is in Greek

I suppose it's impossible to hold a straight cross like that, but I realised it later. Also I don't like the left arm of the demon

This is one of my random stuff, the colours blend very well on the actual paper. The thing below is incomplete crap, I know the hand is not correct I just didn't feel like fixing it. I did the whole page including the "poem" out of boredom.

The guy on the left is an angel and the dead one is a demon.Ã,  Yes his wings are uneven and he somehow tilts to the right.

Because I already had two poems I figured I'd give another one

Fairies

Yesterday I discovered life
A childish soul has died
Bears are not cuddly; they rip your flesh apart
The fairy rapes your dreams; the fairy is a slut!

And you, you stay away from me
I have a disease
And it's going to backfire on you, and only you
All this bitterness is not going to save you

I need compensation, dear friend
before you perish in your own righteousness
I want my pacifier back
The fairy is a slut on drugs!

Umm anyway... What do you think? Any helpful critisism or suggestions? Do you think I should get a tablet? Also, are there any good tutorials about human proportions and stuff?

Nikolas

Εάν πρόσεχες στο μάθημα αντί να ζωγραφίζεις θα ήξερες πως γράφεται το εισιτήριο...

(translation from greek: If you were paying attention to the classes you might know how to spell...)

Ok. Now a little critisism.

First of all try drawing at home! And at a white paper, not at your note book. Note books are there for tic-tac-toe, messages, etc.. not drawing!

My personal opinion is that you would benefit from a tablet, as long as it doesn't get in the way of your responsibilities.

I'm a father! Listen to me!

Nice. You have a natural talent with pens and lightning. Honestly try drawing something with something else than pens. And since you are interested in poetry and drawing (and adventures and music), here's an idea. Join the comps here in the forums.

You could do the tune contest, the sprite j(h)am (hell, I like that!), the BGs blizt... the story comp... everything.

Get more practise.

And try to find other viewpoints.

What I mean. It is apparent that you have a tendency towards demons, dark stuff, heavy metal (probably...), dark poetry and generally "black". The idea is this, you may outgrow it sometime later in your life. I'm not telling you to supress it but isn't there something else you would like to draw? I have no idea what you would dream of doing in your life. Author? Poet? Musician? Game developer? Artist? Lawyer ???! But whatever you want to do you might be asked to do something different than what you are used to. Try to think about that...

Note: I think that this is called patronising... Well.. not very nice but still, it is critisism, no?

I like them but they're freakish...  I like especially the dark angel with the burning demon. Hell, yes!

esper

The dark angel looks like Rasputin...

And apparently, he's used his powers to create a giant nipple out of thin air to which he could pike the demon.

Seriously, your biggest strength is texturing and rendering.
This Space Left Blank Intentionally.

I likey. If I were you (and had photshop) I would tweak the image a bit. You can tottally lose those blue binder paper lines in photoshop, and screw with the contrast some. You will low the other little colors, but it would look better in my mind.

Paper Carnival

Oh crap I misspelt ticket >.< and I'm actually a good speller.

I rarely draw during classes anymore, I draw during breaks or during my art class (duh). And I have already tried drawing with something else, I do draw other things but rarely. And I don't mind the blue lines :P I could always photoshop them out anyway.

I know I'll grow out of dark religious themes (note that they're not satanic, just show the dark side of religion - the demons are always the bad guys). When I was a little kid I was mostly drawing ninjas, then I grew out of them and got into aliens, then I got into monsters, and now I'm into these. And it's not "heavy" metal, it's power and epic metal :P.

QuoteI have no idea what you would dream of doing in your life. Author? Poet? Musician? Game developer? Artist?
A programmer because it's my best ability, even though I enjoy art and music more.

Esper: Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking when I was drawing it, only I wouldn't call it a "nipple". And I thought he looked like Gandalf.

Squinky: I'm quite skilled at Pixia, but I'm too lazy to mess with it. On the actual paper it has a lot more contrast (it's what I was talking about colour loss). My shapes are not as detailed and clean as yours, but I'm working on it :P

Thanks everyone for your time
