So I decided to make MY OWN logo for my film/photography company. I still used some elements from Iqu's original design, but now I've made it my own.

It's still a bit rough, but I'd like to know other's thoughts on this. Evil says the fingers look like bunnies, but I don't care what he says :-p

The fingers look like bunnies....

Seriously though, I like the feel, but the hand seems like a dwarfs hand, not photogenic. I think you may need to hire yourself a hand model...

Hmmm... a chance to put my ad experience to work.

Generally, it's a very bad idea to illustrate the caption/describe the picture. I understand the pun here, but the redundancy is overkill. It's akin to having a picture of a man frozen in a huge block of ice and a woman glaring at him with the headline "Is your fashion sense getting too many cold stares?" (or "Don't get frozen in your tracks") The headline fails to provide new information, since we can understand what's going on just by looking at the picture.
A better headline for my example might be "You don't have to be born with fashion sense" followed by the copy "Warm up to the party with threads from..." (an improvement, although still not great, since I thought of this on the spot)

Now look, you've hurt his feelings. :-[

I like the concept, especially the whole fingersnap/snapshot cleverness. No offense at all, but I would have to agree with Squinky, get a hand model. Maybe some feminine smooth hands?

Actually LGM, your hand looks kinda like mine. I have short thumbs and my fingers are always beat up in places from playing too many instruments.

MrColossal

or maybe, just random thought, have 3 polaroids splayed out like one would hold cards and each one is the hand in a different snapping position... maybe...

as in start, middle and end of snap?

Just an idea

Have to agree with BB here.  It's nearly brutally clubbing someone over the head with the concept.  Of course, assuming this isn't a negative, the picture still doesn't convey a snap so much as somebody trying to make a shadow puppet.  I think if the image is done right, it can convey everything necessary (with "Snapshot Studios" in smaller, more somber writing, like a footnote).  Maybe a picture of hands "framing" a shot of somebody making a kind of hipster snapping motion (for some reason thinking of a visual example, all I got was Cowboy Bebop cover art and pretty much 1/2 of Six-String Samurai).

Mr. C's isn't a bad idea, but the layout would have to ride the balance between confusing and overly obvious, also requiring a demonstratively kinetic person.

so, nothing like this:

Akumayo

A left handed snapper?!?  What's next!?!

Akumayo (humorously unintentionally) reminded me of something...

In case you change the title, try to avoid slang connotations. Like "snapper", for instance...

I think the hand needs to be more stylistic and less realistic. Right now we see all these wrinkles and textures and details and it just doesn't strike me as a typical logo design. Maybe just a silhouette?

The hand itself is awkwardly posed, and has the looks of a hand which is trying to make as much noise as possible, not to make an elegant little snap.

They're my hands :(

Apologys Man, but it's what I thought. I think it may have to do with the angle and the black and white picture making your hand seem odd. But still, shopping aroung for a hand model wouldn't be bad, and you son't seem to have any problems finding models....

big brother

Perhaps you could the hand search into an AGS competition, "LGM's Next Top Hand Model." There has to be at least one person on these forums with soft, ladylike manos.

Don't look at me. Mine are beat to shit from putting up weights.

Okay... The hand model was just temp, anyway. I took it in 5 seconds, with a flash, in my room, and with my left hand holding the shutter. :-p

My original plan was to actually do the finger thing with the hands "framing" a shot... But I couldn't find a stock photo of it. But soon I will be doing another studio shoot and I will do that.

Also, I was thinking I could film an actual polaroid dropping onto a white sheet and then animate a picture fading into it. Film logos are rarely live film anymore, it's all 3D or graphic art!!

Anyway, just some ideas.

Feel free to mock up any suggestions, I won't be offended.. (no more hand comments.)

I have an idea... I can't do it now cause I'm at work... but give me a moment when I get home and I'll knock it up...

Why post this then? Well to remind myself to do it!

Yeah, you could at least change the angle of the hand so it doesn't look like a bunny.

I also did a quick google search for "snapshot studios" to see if the name has been taken, and I read "..snapshot studios has the best AV actors in hardcore pornography.." or something like that. I didn't click on the link because it was unsecure.

What the heck is AV?

I like the snapshot font.

big brother

AV = adult video???

I didn't know LGM did that kind of photography.

LGM

Oh crap.. The name I pick just HAD to be that of a porno industry. TOo bad I'm not changing it.
