My favorite song is Mein Teil.

Kinoko

My fiance likes them. I think they're okay but haven't heard enough to be nuts about them. Bit too low toned and shouty for me, really :) There was one song he showed me which was really good. Started with R, I think, but I can't remember.

goldude

R... Either Rammsein or Rozenrot.

Fire Freur! (Or whatever)

They're okay, but I'm not into them.

How often do they sing in german? I've got some german artists in my collection who sing 100% english (Robocop kraus, T Raumschmiere) and an album by And One that's all in German! (Which makes it very hard for me to sing along to)

Paper Carnival

They are nice, but I'm not too much into them. I love the vocals and the heavy german accent though. The music is quite simplistic and repetitive, yet it has a lot of atmosphere.

I watched XXX the other night (don't ask why - I live in a foreign country and I'm at times way too desperate to watch something English. Hell, I even watched Casper on TV once) and they were at the start of that.

Um. Yep. That's all I have to say about that. Just thought it was worth a mention.

xenogia

I prefer the Meshuggah remix of their new single, Math Metal meets German Stomping Metal ... lol

Rincewind

I think they're fun,(the video to Keine Lust was hilarious) but they're not a band I'd buy albums with. When I want vocals in german, I listen to Einstürzende Neubauten instead. ;)
Our bassplayer is a huge Rammstein fan, though. :)

JRock

I like it when their music is playing in the background during gunfights and battles during movies (i.e. The Matrix).  It just adds to the whole intensity.  So, yeh.  I like Rammstein.

Tom S. Fox

Yeah, germany rulez!  :D
Well, I don't like Rammstein so much, though.
Hey, does anyone know this song of them about america?

ManicMatt

You mean... how did it go? "In America! In AmeriCA!"

Or something. Saw the video ages ago.

DoorKnobHandle

I don't like them too much either. I mean, they are allright at times, but I wouldn't want to listen to their stuff regularly.

The song "America" is one of their absolute best though - the video to it is hilarious.
The chorus is "Amerika, Amerika, wunderbar." (which translates to "Great America, America"). This is their only political song that I know though.

goldude

We all live in amerika, amerika ist wunderbarr
We all live in amerika, amerika, amerika
We all live in amerika, cocacola, wonderbra
We all live in amerika, amerika, amerika

I like Rammstein, but there's much better bands out there that aren't as popular such as Subway to Sally, Oomph!, Megaherz, and Letzte Instanz.

I also listen to several other German bands that aren't of the same style such as Die Toten Hosen, Einstürzende Neubauten, Tanzwut, Such a Surge, Stefan Raab, In Extremo, E-Nomine, and Das Ich.

Nine Toes

I like Rammstein.  Du Reich So Gut, Fier Fruer, and a few others (sorry, Du Hast is not one of them... I've grown a little bit sick of that song).
Watch, I just killed this topic...

Paper Carnival

Today someone in school let me hear new Rammstein songs that I haven't heard before and they were better than what I thought Rammstein was about. The only songs I have on my computer are Du Hast, Mein Teil and Ich Will.

Still, they're not something I'd listen to all the time. My favourite German bands remain Desolation (unblack metal) and Siegfried (epic metal). Most Desolation songs are in English though, unfortunately.

InCreator

Rammstein is a rare case when I actually DO like and listen to metal. Can't speak much german, though.

But most of the songs are so atmospheric, that they can't just be ignored. Excellent emotion music. And genious videos.
