J.A. Productions presentsÃ,  Stan Ames : Private Eye, Episode 1 - Murder Incorporated

Stan Ames, PI (for short), is the first in a series of episodes following the exploits of a seemingly washed-up detective.Ã,  Each episode will put Ames on dangerous worldwide missions of conspiracy and intrigue.Ã,  The pilot episode “Murder Incorporated”, introduces Stan Ames as a lowlife PI who's good for nothing more than snapping photos of cheating husbands and cleaning up what the cops leave behind.Ã,  Then, a mysterious call from a woman in distress, leads him on a journey through a demented corporations evil schemes.Ã,  Upon uncovering a shocking conspiracy, Ames finds himself in much deeper than he has ever been before……

Here are a few screenshots from actual gameplay.Ã,

I will post more screens soon.Ã,  I am coming along pretty good on this game. This is actually my first project with AGS that WILL reach completion.Ã,  I had worked on a few projects before, but lost them due to computer issues (damn spyware!!!), but trust me, I'm fully protected now!

The game will run at 640 x 480 (unless you prefer 320 x 240, which will make the visuals look like sh-t).Ã,  About 30 rooms to explore.Ã,  Lot's of puzzles, and a haunting soundtrack.

Story: 100%
Graphics: 97%
Scripting: 90%
Music & sounds: 100%

Expect Stan Ames, Episode 1 mid to late February.Ã,  Ã, ;)

Ubel

Wow! I love those graphics. Nice isometric art you have there. :)

Heh, the idea of this series somehow reminds me of Ben Jordan. How many episodes are you planning on creating?

Anyway, good luck with this. I'm waiting for the release!

PS. Great avatar. :=

JRock

Yes.  Ben Jordan was a big inspiration for me on this project.

As far as how many episodes, well.....we'll just have to see how the first one goes!   ;D

Barbarian

Hey, this really looks excellent so far. And nice to know you've made good overall progress on it.

Hope you don't have any more computer problems while making this project. ( check out an old message of mind for some advice on how to help protect the computer: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=24177.msg300357#msg300357 )

Looking forwards to seeing your completed game in action. Keep us updated from time to time. G'luck.
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."

This looks great. Am looking forward to hearing more ...

Looks good! Love the isometric screens and the blood  ;D

goodluck.

JRock

Thanks for the comments everyone!Ã,  :)

Here's a couple more screens:

This is the GPS display that will appear when Stan gets in his car.
The different icons represent destinations (obviouslyÃ,  ;D )

(I wanted to have a way for the player to get around the city, but I didn't want to use a regular map, so I tried this!)

Here's another example of how I use real images along with what I make.
The skyline is a real photo of New York and the foreground was created by me.

I like combining real images with my drawing.Ã,  I think it adds realism, yet keeps the
aspect of fantasy.

Coming along pretty good on the game. (76%).Ã,  More updates soon!Ã,  Ã, :=

Hammerite

how long will it be?
also i recomend you keep the use of real images to a minimum since your drawings are graet.
i used to be indeceisive but now im not so sure!

hedgefield

Yeah, and there aren't many isometric pics.

Looks fantastic. The pic in the park looks really great. Making a map of the city crossed my mind aswell, and the pics I got from Google Maps looked just about the same as on your GPS system. Great minds think alike eh? ;)

Looking forward to playing!

Well, as far as how long it will be (assuming you mean "the game" and not how long till completion (which will be late february)), is dependent on how fast you can solve the puzzles and get through all the rooms.Ã,  And as far as the real images, there will probably only be about 3 or 4 scenes using real photos, so my own work will be used in a majority of the game.Ã,

Well, since I'm here for now, I think I'll preview another screen.

Here's what you will see if you cause too much trouble or kill the wrong person:

Thanx for all the comments everyone.Ã,  More soon.Ã,  Ã, ;)

DanClarke

Yeah, I should probably touch it up with a made-up name or I might get in trouble.

("Magellan Navigation Corporation" might send hitmen to my home and kill my whole family for using their GPS in my game.Ã,  ;D )

S$#t!Ã,  Did I just give away part of the game!Ã,  :P ::) ;)

I decided to make a custom GUI interface for Stan Ames (Just thought plain old gray was too boring).

Heres the iconbar GUI:

(Yeah.Ã,  I know it looks VERY similar to the windows icons, but I wanted
something that looked more proffesional and easier to recognize.Ã,  ;D)

And heres the inventory screen:

(I wanted it to resemble the inside of a briefcase)

But anyway, I'm coming along good on Stan Ames 1.
Still shooting for late february.Ã,  About 85% complete now. More soon.Ã,  :=

Das Plans

Hi there!

This looks fabulous! And it sounds fabulous, too. Conspiracies, mysteries to be unraveled, great iso-look. Yep, that seems to be right up my alley.

Although, I don't care for real images in games like this. But that's just me.

Good luck with that!

New screens (2-3-06)

Well, I'm getting right down to the wire on Stan Ames Episode 1:

Story: 100%
Graphics: 97%
Scripting: 90%
Music & sounds: 100%

About a week or two till completion.Ã,  Ã, ;) The countdown to conspiracy begins......

(by the way, this game is gonna be about 20MB huge and it will contain graphic (sometimes disturbing) violence, graphic language, and some "adult" themes :o.Ã,  hope that don't discourage anyoneÃ,  :) )

Ubel

Wow, great to hear that it's almost ready! Can't wait! :)

Saberteeth

Nice, clean, isometric pictures, great story, cool graphics, a sure sign of a great game  ;).

How many episodes are you planning to release, anyway?

Hammerite

i used to be indeceisive but now im not so sure!

Sinister
