Strange events and experiences in your life

I don't want to say that I'm a skeptic, because that carries with it a negative connotation. But I'd like to call myself a realist.

That is, until a few nights ago.

My girlfriend, Andrea, has lately had the ability to say what I was thinking. I have a stuttering problem, so sometimes I don't end up finishing sentences (rather I take a long time to do so), but before I can finish, Andrea will just say what I was about to say. And there usually aren't any hints in the context of what I'm saying to let her know what I will say next. She claims to have the sporadic ability to read my most outward thoughts (mainly things I'm about to say).

That's all good and well, and I would kind of pass it off as her thinking she had this ability, but instead being able to think quickly on her feet.

Then, a few nights ago, while laying in my bed, I voiced my slight jealousy that she could do it, but I couldn't. So I decided to test out my own abilities.

I asked her to think of a number between 1 and 20, I believe, without saying anything to me. She said ok, and I concentrated. A number then slowly surfaced in my mind and I said it. Turns out I was right.

Then I tried it out with a much larger range: 1-100 probably. I was precisely right again.

Then 1 to 1000. I was off by 1 I believe.

Then I told her to think of any animal at all. Again, I spooked her by being able to tell what she was thinking of.

Then I guessed what letter (A-Z) she was thinking of. Then a letter AND number (0-9) combo. Spot on.

Then a color. Then a fruit. Then a vegetable. Then a flower. Then a state (U.S.). Then a country.

The country one should've been the hardest to just guess. But when I told her to concentrate on it, my mind kind of envisioned a globe. Then it focused it on one country: Japan. Random enough to not be a common choice, right? Turns out I was right with that one, too.

I think there were 2 or 3 other categories, and only twice was I off, and not by much.

Basically, my point is, I've finally found someone with whom I have an almost eery connection with. I'm connected with her on a level that defies almost all rational thought. I was able to basically read HER outward thoughts that night, and it was at once both awesome and spooky. We stopped only because it was starting to freak the both of us out.

Have any of you guys ever had experiences similar to mine?

This....is the same girl that lets you "Hypnotize" her?

I want a girlfriend like that.  :'(

(Sorry I've recently had my heart ripped out and nailed to the floor and ran over with a steamroller, and finally smashed into a million pieces by a sledgehammer.)

That's... quite amazing, TerranRich. Spooky, yes... but amazing. O_o

I once guessed what flavour of ice cream my mate Duncan was going to buy.

The boiler in my house blew up and burnt my house down, and i was in it when it happened. I was knocked off my seat and had to jump out of my window.

EDIT: I just realised this isnt really strange, it was just a bit crap.

When my cousin was born, I wasn't happy about it, not for my cousin, nor for my uncle or aunt. I asked myself, why I felt sad, and not happy, and the answer was: I had the strange feeling, that she wouldn't live for long. The next day she died.

And one night I awoke, because I heard some sort of crash. When I looked for it, I realised it was the floor mirror, which had detached from the frame and shivered on the floor. There is a saying, that, when a mirror falls of its own volition out of its frame, the owner of this mirror will die soon. One week later, my grandmother, until that very healthy, became sick and died few weeks later.

Seems that everything strange I notice is related to death. Like everytime I have to write a very very very important test, the conductor of the tram I ride discovers a dead body on the rails. Strange ...

I soiled myself four times last year.  I'm sure that's a sign of some kind of impending doom.

Yes, and why the quotes? Do you doubt me? ;)

This wasn't just a one-time thing where i got lucky and guessed one thing. I did about 10-15 times with different categories and no hints whatsoever. There's no way to get lucky or pick a very common number between 1 and 1,000.

nihilyst: That's pretty freaky. I'm really into semi-clairvoyant experiences and stuff. I'd love to hear anyone else's experiences.

Hee hee hee... My guess is that your girlfriend is just getting a kick of your ignorance ;D

TerranRich

Ignorance? Please explain.

If you're saying that she's lying about me being right, to humor me, then I can confidently say that you're wrong.

Now that DS stopped us mocking rharpe, can we come and mock your claims in this thread instead, Rich?  :=

Also:

Set up a camera, record a 3rd person who has no idea what is going on opening a dictionary, picking 10 words at random and writing them on seperate note cards, close the dictionary and put it away. Enter girlfriend, you stay in a seperate room, she takes the cards 1 at a time and friend calls out to you to write down what you think is on the card. Only when all 10 cards are done do you enter the room, compare cards.

THAT would impress me.

Why the anger? I just dont really believe in stuff like that, and are looking at every possibility in this case. But please, do continue sharing it all :D If it really is true, it's absolutely amazing ;D

EDIT: Agree with MrCollossal

Of course it's true. People around the forums know I'm not a bullshit artist. Sure, I may procrastinate on games a lot, but Im not a liar.

And it's not exactly like my girlfriend is some random girl I met a few days ago that I have fun with now and again. We have a very deep relationship and care for each other dearly, and are very open and honest with each other. I at first did not believe that I was really hypnotizing her, when I did, but she assured me that she was. Read that thread somewhere in the depths of this forum.

As for the guessing game, that too is real. I kept saying, "No, you're just humoring me," or "You're lying," but she assured me that I was right 9/10 times. At least I didn't say I got it right every single time.

Do this, and i'll believe you ;)

If I should name a person, that really isn't believing in such things like supernatural forces or experiences, then I would name myself, because I trust in logic and the sentence "What can't happen, won't happen." But, as I said before, I witnessed feelings, that I couldn't explain, and "chance" isn't an explanation.

I call myself a rationalist, but Walter Faber from Max Frisch's novel "Homo Faber" also called himself a rationalist, and he truly seemed to be, but when you read it twice, you realise, that he - from the beginning to the end - is the opposite.

TerranRich seems to be developing superpowers these days. I remember his last post about psychic powers....

But once, when I was like 9 or 10 I had the thought of calling my best friend, and when I picked up the phone, without ringing, there he was. he was trying to call me too.

Life is something, isn't it?
