Anyone else played this game?Ã,  I picked it up from EB the other day for AU$30(about a third of full priced games), and can safely say that it's one of the best action adventure games (probably second to Zelda) that I've ever played, and it's funny to boot.Ã,  It got quite a mediocre release apparently, but if you haven't already... GO AND BUY IT NOW!!!! It's on XBox, PC, PS2 and Gamecube (not 100% sure about the last 2).Ã,  It's really a unique and interesting experiience that is fun to play at every moment.

It is awesome. I tell everyone to buy it, but most of them don't. (yes, i'm looking at everyone from brittens 04 ¬¬)

I don't know... as with Zarathustra and much Nietzsche I find it difficult to keep up with text that is aware of it's own contradictions, indeed, thrives on them. I think I feel what he's saying much more than I understand it, which isn't a bad thing if you're reading poetry, but philosophy?

However this, amongst other things in this text:

Quote from: Big F NietzcheEvery morality is a part of tyranny against "nature," also against "reason": that is, however, not yet an objection to it. To object, we would have to decree from, once again, some morality or other, that all forms of tyranny and irrationality are not permitted. The essential and invaluable part of every morality is that it is a lengthy compulsion: to understand stoicism or Port Royal or Puritanism people should remember the compulsion under which every language so far has achieved strength and freedomâ€"the metrical compulsion, the tyranny of rhyme and rhythm.

Resonates deeply in me.

I think I had the PS2 version, (Got more than one console) and I got the game about a month after it came out and the price had been cut in half due to poor sales. But I agree with these two, I think the game is a top title with plenty of things to do.

In fact, Peter Jackson (Or maybe someone under him, or maybe even UBIsoft, I really can't remember...) was so impressed by this game that they asked them to make that recent king kong game.

I adore BG+E! It's such a lovely game with a great atmosphere. I tell everyone to buy it!

Oh, ayuh. Beyond Good and Evil is a beauty, a wonder of a game. I only have two gripes about it, and mind, they're both huge spoilers that go straight to the end of the game - so be warned. Anyway, they're really just a matter of taste.

Spoiler
1 - The final scene before the credits was a close-up of Jade's face, smiling. Now, while that was a good final image, I was left wanting more. I had seen Hillys, have travelled in its land and water and airspace, and went to the moon, progressively drawing away from the serene, peaceful Hillys and going into more dangerous places - from the slaughterhouses to the moon, and that memorable, amazing chase scene in the Hillian rooftops. THAT was extraordinary!

Anyway, after all that, I just wanted to take a last look at Hillys - a peaceful Hillys, now. A happy Hillys. I just wanted to be taken back there for a last look.

2 - The really final scene, with Pey'J and his Domz arm, or whatever. That was just stupid. It totally ruined it. The story is perfectly self-contained, if they wanted a sequel they could have done it without forcing something where it didn't really belong...

Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

It looks great, but at most reviews, people tend to say it's really short. Is it too short? How long did you spend on it? Are there different difficulty levels?

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

No, no different difficulty levels, but you can replay and try to get all the pearls, and take all the photos.

Thing is, it's really a story driven game, and like with most story games, once it's beat there's not all that much point in going back. Until some time has passed, that is. And yes, I guess it IS rather short. But nevertheless, very very very good. I'd rather have it short and intense, the way this one was, than have it drawn out and uninteresting and with spoiled potential(IMHO, The Moment of Silence is one such case).

Yup, excellent game.
I loved how the gameplay area (and freedom to move around it) kept opening up.

About 10-12 hours of gameplay for me.
I played it on GameCube but I was too cheap to buy a memory card (it took up some absurd number of blocks) so I had to leave the Cube on for a week.
I was having trouble with the final boss, and I left the machine on so long that the logic for the boss broke - a counter overflow probably. So I had to download a video of the ending.

Anyway, highly recommended!

Yes, I liked it to.  ;D

And it did take up a seriously stupid amount of space on the gamecube memory card. :o
