Hey all, this is for an RPG my friend is making. In the first part of the game, all is well with the player and he lives in peace in the Village, a happy medieval-fantasy community, much like LOTR's Shire. Anyhoo, enough of me yabbering on, what do you think?
The Village
Like i said, this music should be the sort of thing you'd hear when looking at the shire in LOTR before all the bloodshed and misery and whatnot.
Thanks,

You know what? It is really nice... The tune is nice, it has variation and the rythm is not exactly repeated. The chords loose the patern they follow after a while. WELL DONE! PRETTY WELL DONE!

Now on some critisism:

One obvious problem I see is the orchestration. Only two instruments? One idea would be to add a string pad or something after the first half, where the weird chord changes occure.

Another is that I dunno if the instrument you use for the main melody (guitar), is the best choice. A flute-ish kind would sound much better imho.

I don't know what program you use but if you can temper the velocities, you could have a little variation in the volume also. If you don't know what velocity is, ask me ;)

But again. VERY WELL DONE. I like it a lot.

Gregjazz

Agreed! I think the main tune is great as well as your chord choice. I think the main issues right now are to do with the arrangement and instrumentation, but it seems that Nikolas already gave you some good suggestions regarding that.

Fluke is breaking ground. It's actually really good. A string set would be nice though, as nik said.

Indeed he is!

I really think that you should drop all effort towards graphics and consetrate to music!

ManicMatt

That's assuming he wrote it.

Nikolas

I honestly don't see any reason to doubt that!

I mean come on...  Why do you say that Mat?

PsychicHeart

Thanks for the CC guys:
I think there is some Ash Organ for the Bass.
I'm not sure, because, as this was my first composition, i didn't know i had to save both the MIDI AND the .file :o
So, i'm screwed, yeah.

Frankly I have no idea what you're talking about in your last post. What do you mean? What ash organ? What .file? Why are you screwed?

vict0r

Yay! We have found flukes hidden talent! All the time, he has been making really crap-o-matic drawings, and he had this ability to compose music lying under the surface!

Critic: Agrees with everyone.

Das Plans

Wow, this has some nice atmosphere. I'm really seeing all kinds of landscapes in my head - and I have only had one beer by now.  ;)

I would agree tho, that some kind of a medieveal flute-thingie would fit the lead melody even better.

But again: great! Really, really enjoyable.

I mean i simply exported a MIDI but didn't save the actual composition, therefore i (unfortuantely) can't make any changes.
That's why im screwed.

I think most MIDI composer programmes can load MIDI files back directly, some small setup details might be lost compared to the programme's native format, but it should still be editable.

As Gilbot said, you can import any midi file, and almost nothing will be lost. Notes, velocities (which you haven't changed at all, from what I've seen), the instruments... All...

Which program do you use? It must have an open file choice, and have midi file fomrat in. Or maybe an import option (cubase does it this way), with midi fili fomrat choice.

Nikolas

Did you do anything to improve it, yet?

I'm really eager to listen to what you did...

And btw, even if you can't import the midi file (which I find it quiet imposible not to be able to), you could alway rewrite it. It's not that large...
