Only just getting Survivor.

Last night as i skimmed through the newspaper (rightly throwing the Home and Classifields away in disgust) i checked the tv listings, and realised that that night Survivor(now in it's elderly 12th season), was starting. Fair enough.
Then i wiki'd it, and found that it began mid-february in US. Not that i wanted to watch it anyway, frankly i think it's a sadistic show, a ridiculous take on reality, and featuring stereotypical characters, most of which have huge abs or breasts the size of cannonballs.
But the fact that we didn't get it till now, makes me wonder if perhaps this happens to you? Do you live in somewhere were an 8 week old episode of Family Guy is being shown to your set as 'New'?

You didn't get it until now, but you've already passed judgement on it? Odd..

But, that aside. If you don't want to watch it, don't.  There's no point criticising something that's crap, just don't watch it.

As for getting stuff late, I'm in the UK. We're a whole year at least behind the US.

12th season? It started in 1994?
You. Me. Denny's.

IMDB says it started in 2000 but anyway...

Since I live in the US I get to see all the wonderful shows first before they get exported, and what a treat THAT is!

The only thing I enjoy in american tv is Adult Swim [well enjoyed, I haven't watched it in a while], Avatar, Daily Show and various discovery channel shows...

TV just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Same here. I just can't bear watching it anymore.

I'm basing my POV on the past few seasons i've watched. The first season was good, but the rest seem to have an aura of superficiality about them.

My wife recently got hooked on American Idol.  We live in Japan and we get each episode about 2 weeks after they run in America.  (I'd download the episodes, but my wife's English isn't good enough to keep up with a lot of the banter, especially Simon's accent.  And missing out on his comments sucks a lot [possibly all] of the fun out of the show.)  So we watch the show together 2 weeks after the initial American run, but unlike my wife, I'm a heavy internet user, which means I know exactly who's going to be eliminated each week because it's plastered all over the web.  That's really annoying.

I always try to avoid spoilers, but they sneak onto different web and news sites that I read.    Even in headlines.  In previous seasons, when I didn't watch the show at all, I never noticed spoilers, but it must've just been because I didn't know who any contestants were.

And I know there's no way I'm going to be able to avoid learning who the big winner is two weeks early.

We're usually a year or two after the seasons. But with the latest american idol I think it was shown only two days apart.

Over in New Zealand we get some pretty old shows that are advertised as new, too. But not all the time, thankfully.

You British bastards. I only just now started getting Doctor Who.

WOW 35 years later? :o

hehe!

Can you think of Greece? You just started last year getting 24!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to mention that survivor has two seasons a year, so 12 seasons is possible. And I have enjoyed survivor. It's not a reality show, but it can be really interesting, otherwise it wouldn't have 12 seasons. That said, I haven't watched the show for about three years, but I'm sure it's as entertaining. Not my first choice for entertainment, but it fits a prime time slot.

Not to mention that we had Survivor season 5 or 6 running just now as the new survivor, so eight weeks is nothing. THe only thing we get live from the USA wsa the Super BowlÃ,  ;D Actually, we don't even get series from England less than 6 months old. For example, Emmerdale is one season behind iirc.

Oh, and yes, Fluke, you're right, it's a crappy show. The first two seasons were enjoyable.

The shows airing here suck. Not only american television can do that, but Arrested development was awesome, so I have not completely grown out of TV.
Hell is like Tetris, make sure that you fit.

Mr Flibble

The UK gets American DVD releases before the Americans do, because of different copyright laws as regards to people receiving payment for their work before the DVD is published.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!
