A question about a new game

I do not know if this the right form to ask something like this but since it is more of a question for the general AGS community.

The game I am currently working on is basically just pictures, text and the only clicks are the one to move player from Room A to Room B. There is a ton of narration (from a first person prespective) and characters talking and it should take less then ten minutes to "play" through".

My question about the game is where should it propably belong when I release it, non-adventure (do to the fact there is little interaction and linear-pathes like some visual novels) or short adventure games?

Thank you for your time.

Well, I have a game like that and it's posted here... what's your game called?
I'm composing the music for this game:

LimpingFish

I would say put it in Non-Adventure games. Or, when you are finished making it, post it in a thread before you put in the game section.

That way people can play your game and give you feedback, which can then help you decide where your game belongs.

Good luck  :)

The genre is Interactive Fiction, and IF is the father of adventure games (Zork etc) back when there was no such thing as graphics in computers.
It could be classified as adventure game but it's not what people expect, but non-adventure is too harsh a name cos it relates more to action genres and the likes.
I guess the operators of the AGS site should decide where to put it. If there wrere more IF they could be a category but I guess for now it would go in the non-adventure to satisfy newer adventure gamers expectations. Just say it's IF in the description.

Surely you'd have to admit that IF needs to be interactive, otherwise it's just F.Ã,  What this is really is a non interactive animation, which doesn't fit into adventure game, or non-adventure game, because it's not a game.Ã,  Since there isn't a category for what you've made at the moment, ginanubismon, I suggest you put it wherever you feel it goes best, everyone will have a different opinion of what's best... personally I'd go for "short adventure games".

Radiant

Since it has graphics (but not animation, apparently) I'd certainly consider it an adventure game, along the lines of The Hobbit, Eric the Unready and Spellcasting - if not for the fact that it's not interactive. I'd say that makes it a demo, and we have a category for those.

ginanubismon

Thanks for your help, I am currently working out the kinks of the main "game" before I consider a demo version (but first I would like to create the in production thread but before that I would like to have at least over a certan amount done.)

The genre is Interactive Fiction

No, it isn't. To call it that would be misleading. As scotch mentioned, Interactive Fiction is, well, interactive. In addition, while it's a term with different definitions (some of them include graphical adventure games, some even include CYOA) most people think a text parser is a main requirement for something to be IF. (For further reading, I point you to the IFWiki, where you can read the FAQ.

If I understand ginanubismon correctly, what we're talking about here is more like a movie. So I'd say non-adventure.
