I'm currently composing some music for Bob Goes Home Deluxe,

which you can check out HERE
It's rather simple, because the game is too...

HERE you can download a song I'm making (WIP) for an RPG a friend of mine is making.

Sooo, tell me what you (dis)like about them.

Nikolas

The end credits could use some syncing or quantizing... there are issues... Although it does have an appeal as it is... like it;s been done on purpose so never mind maybe.

I like the jazzy feeling of your songs (excpet the rpg where there is no jazz to be seen)

IT certainly has the feeling of older adventure games, keep this up.

I'm wirting as I@m listening that's why the txt is so messy and no intro outro and all... sorry for that

I like the sounds, although sometimes they sound too synthetuic, but they;re not midi, that;s for sure. I enjoy especially the violins. (and the birds in outside)

I can really feel the game.

It's great music in all...

I don't have a really clear head to have some really good feedback but generalyl I like it very much and it is apparent that you worked hard on these tracks. Keep it up.

It's GREAT to hear this from a professional composer.
Thank you very much!

I'm thinking about studying Composition & Music Technology...Ã,  :)

Edit: Yeah I know that the End Credits need some quantizing... I tried to but it doesn't work out right....

I like your professional work too!

*Nikolas blushes*
Thanks

What sounds are you using, if I may ask?

I think that all the track could benefit with a little reverb (just a tiny bit, nothing much though.) Since they are mp3s, you can do a little after work.

I use Propellerheads Reason 3... so I can just load up the file I've been working on and add a few RV7000's  ;)

Or is Reason 3 like, blasphemy when you're a professional composer?

You're kidding right?

No it's not blasphemy at all! It's great!

I've used Reason 1 you know, so imagine 3...

maaark

Yeah, it's great.
You can do so much with it, and I've only discovered like maybe 10%...
I don't like all the hiphop/techno/blabla stuff and sounds that are in it though... but a lot of sounds are great and the sequencer is awesome...
I tried working with Tracktion, Fruity Loops, whatever, but the only things I use nowadays are Reason and Ableton Live to record stuff...
Perfect combination  ;D

What do you use now?

Nikolas

I think that it's better that we don't use the thread for general discussion. I'll PM you.

I've listened to the RPG music:
...
captivating. (or in Dutch: meeslepend)

Great piano stuff at the beginning.
The theme that starts at 0:36 - the piano notes sounds a little thin. I'd add more bass or double the notes to make them sound richer.

That interlude from 1:19 to 1:33 is very nice, and the slow bit after that... I've listened to it three times completely speechless.

Keep us informed when the RPG's ready, I'd love to play it!

grtz,
Stefan

maaark

Thank you!

The RPG itself is in very early stages...

But this is also good for my portfolio when I want to study Composition & Music Technology next year at the HKU in Hilversum...
