Wired online mentions that the wonderful "Choose Your Own Adventure" series are back in production. They are reprinting old stories with updated parts to relate to this generation. And to make the news even better, the Wired newspost is made in the tradition of choose your own adventure.

The first stage of the phrophecy is complete. Eleven more stages until Adventure games shall rule the day!

- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Yes, I'd hate to see how they worked a mobile phone into Warlock of Firetop Mountain.

Oh, and this is a perfect time to mention my favourite website once again: www.jerking.com.

I absolutely love Choose Your Own Adventures. I think I only had one OFFICIAL one (Though many copycats), and it was about killer ants or some such stuff.

The best part about those books is that if you screwed up, you totally died. I hope in "modernizing" the books, they don't remove the endings in which you die, because they were the best endings of all. Of course, they were horrible when you were a kid, but now, thinking back, it's pretty outrageous that a kids book would allow you to get eaten/mutilated/fall off something/drowned, etc...

As kid (a younger one anyway) I played a few. One was huge at least 300 pages long, and it had MANY endings. One that I thought was cool, as a kid, was where you are sent back in time,( from the future) and were reading the book, a nice pop of suspended belief

Oh, those things were huge in Bulgaria in the '90s. Bulgarian autors used to make the greatest books in the univerce. All those forign stuff was crab compaired to them. But then our money system got out of control and those book houses bankrupted... I still miss the good old days.
