Just before I made an account on this forum i've draw this girl character.
She suppose to became the maincharacter of my first game. A cute little girl who want's to become evil.
Gee i've never draw a character before, so it must have flaws.
Please let your creative brains work and help me with some good suggestions.

thanks in advance!  ;)

EDIT:

Ok heres v2:

Looks any better?
I tried to use some shading I learned from a tutorial made by Ivy. I made some minor changes in color of her skin. I tried to shade her dress too but it kept comming out ughly. Maybe someone can do that for me? Anyway , comments please  :)

first things first welcome to AGS

I believe your character is too flat try and give it some depth  ie shading and curves you seem to have gotten the hang of the outlining but try and use darker colors  and her skin is too well shall we say pink

A good first try though try browsing the tutorials such as this one

this is where i learned where to start when i began this

Currently working on a project!

IMO, the first version is better. Nothing wrong with flat coloring, it is just a matter of style. The second has vague shading at best, and it seem random, depicting no real shapes.

When it comes to concept, I think your character is good, but has room for improvements. Especially her face, which brings no actual characterisation, but rather an empty page, which can be good. But judging from your writing, your character HAS well developed characteristics and should be equally depicted within her face. Perhaps work with eyebrows or altering her mouth and eyes.

Here's a swift display of how you can alter your characters apperance with only facial expressions.

thnx 2ma2,

I changed her mounth and added eyebrows. She looks evil now. I'm not gonna post it yet. I'll wait if there might come more suggestions.  :)

Although I am going to list quite a few things that could be improved, don't be discouraged. :)

Skin tones rarely have purple in them. Try some light colors between yellow and red.

She is too tall for a little girl and she also has quite a long neck.

Her legs are unnaturally thin and they get bigger towards ankle. Also, I'm not too sure about those Mickey Mouse shoes either. ;)

You should probably make her elbows more curved and arms more relaxed.

She is stiff. You should think of interesting poses and try them. It also helps you to get familiar with your characters propotions.

Like 2ma2 said the shading you have done in v2 looks rather random. Shading is used to give your character form. By using light and shadows you can achieve look of three dimensionality. Too bad, it is not an easy task..

I made a really rough paintover to give you some ideas about the body.

Buckethead

Don't be afraid. I like the suggestions and I'm glad someone finnally tells me that my char looks like a human cloon of minny mouse.

Anyway. The color is caused by the fact that I tried to save the image as 256 colors with paint. and I must of did something wrong. Afterwards the colors changed into more pink-ish stuff.

Actually, she suppose to be some kind of teenager, but I like the size you picked better.

You're right , her leggs are a totall mess. I better re-do them.

Same with the arms. Why didn't any told me this before ?  :P

I tried to make some shading but I'm totally new to making shawdows with paint.

All by all , thnx for the paint over. I'm sure it's gonna help me much.  ;)

I think you should make her facial features more female. And I think that you should make her look more evil trying to look innocent. And I think a lot of things and am generally wrong.

Here's some quick black & white MSPaint work to show you what I mean...

One innocent, one evil. Both sorta scare me.

I did the resolution too big - I am not very good at doing emotion in low res, but you can see how her face looks more feminine... I know she's not exactly a little girl but this should give you ideas. I hope.

The hair in your version looks like somebody is resting a black sausage on her head - make it a part of her. Hair generally tends to blend in with the head...

I dunno if any of this makes any sense to anyone but me, but there's my two cents. And this sprite would be perfect for a ROTN game. The first one, that is.

And ignore the proportions on my pictures. They're wrong - as usual. I failed art in high school.

I see what you mean by not evil. Yet I already made some changes to her face and don't forget she isn't evil yet. Her hair indeed could use some improvement but calling it a sausage goes a little far. I'll see what I can improve about it. Thnx for your comment  :)

EDIT:

OK here's another version. Any new suggestions?

ThreeOhFour

Sorry about the sausage comment... was trying to describe what I saw, not trying to offend or anything.

If you want innocent, then lay it right on:

This one is in your resolution. I changed couple of colours, but personally I think that shading is secondary. Make sure you have the shape right first.

And OMG your new version is EVIL!!!

no problem, that comment made me laugh big time  XD

Well I don't really know what to say. Your version seems good but I'm quite happy with my own version. I don't see a reason to change so much. I might gonna make a few changes to her arms and legs but that's all I think. And yes she's as evil as an innocent girl can be  :P

The hair does look like something is laying on top of her head (like a hat) or she is bald on the back of her head. If she has pig tails perhaps put a bow on each one so people can tell her hair is pulled to the sides. If her hair is loose there should be no empty space behind her head unless she has some sort of future/punk hairdo. A quick edit, in which I am trying to emulate your style, to demonstrate my point.

2ma2

I think the new version is simply great  := Now try to make her as evilicious in the sideways view.

Buckethead

Yeah it's indeed time for side views. But I'm gonna making a simple sort of joke game to learn scripting first.
