QuoteI spelled it my way of course but the sounding is the same, the original is spelled, Cypselus.

Therefore, Sipcellus is not a Greek name, since you changed the spelling and made it a different name. ;)

A lot of Greek names have been Latinized though, see: http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/gre-anci.php . It has examples of actual ancient Greek names, and Latinized Greek names. I'd probably guess that Cypselus is Latinized too, Kypselos looks more Greek.

I'm confused though... in your first post you said "Long ago, no one knows the exact date but some assume it was long before even the great Hercules existed, etc", (Btw, Herakles, not Hercules) and now you say that Roman families migrated to Greece hence the justification for the name 'Victor'... but then it wouldn't have been such a long time ago if there are Romans migrating about (at least, not before Hercules. Rome conquered Greece in 146BC which isn't as ancient as your description implies; also, I doubt many Romans, if any, would've migrated to Greece before then). But 'Victor' itself wouldn't have been used as a name by the ancient Romans in the first place anyway.

Oh, and Nikolas is Greek, I assure you :P

BTW, also is Helm (Greek I mean...)

Anyways, take it or leave it:

All the names you are using sound like an ugly non-hollywood production of butchered greek mythology. (Xina, or teh Hercules series... and so on)

Advice: Do correct all your spelling mistakes, correct all the names, do find some willpower to proof read your own story.

Anyways... I won't go to any trouble to prove to you my ethnicity by scanning my passport ;D Λίγα Ελληνικά φτάνουν.

Also do take care as there are other greeks here as well (alkis21, silverwizard and actually lot others which I can't remember right now) :D

See that's what bugs me. You claimed they were greek and made sense, but as proven those names wouldn't have been in place around your time line.

If it's just artistic license and not fact, which you are so keen on saying it is, then I could happily accept it!

Style wise it's a bit like me making a game based in victorian times with a british hero called Pritesh. We do technically have british residents by that name, but in that timeline odds are strong there wouldn't have been. You get me?

But all this arguing has just been free publicity for you! If we had all said "good job" and that's it, this thread would have died ages ago. That's the way it is around here.. (Look at how many posts are in Neelhound's completed game thread.)

Helm

Kypselos and Sipcellus sound marginally alike, but one is... greek, the other... latin. Will the greeks in your game adress each other in latinized form because what? Is there any reason at all to use the latinized form of this name other than that's how you wrote it and you're not taking critique? Historical accuracy helps suspension of disbelief. Lack of irritates the natives whose history you might be buchering. The greeks are especially touchy on that one. As they are to be called 'not greeks' on the grounds that they can tell latin from their own ancient language.

Anyway, I guess this argument serves no purpose than to suggest what sort of collaboration people can be looking forward to you if they choose to join you. You made your bed, sleep on it, Kypsele.
