I have a pile of computer cables...ancient computer cables ;)...sitting next to my computer that was given to me and I was wondering what kind of cable one of them was:

That's one end of it...the other end is a USB plug...anyway thanks for any help in identifying this item!

[EDIT:]

It seems that using PHP to allow hotlinking is actually working. Hooray!

parallel port? I'm not sure, but thats what I think it is.

Parallel looks like this:

Well...that's a female not a male. Anyway...I don't know how to find a better image of this cable since I don't know what kind of cable it is...but it doesn't have prongs. It just has metal receptors of some sort...

The one end appears to be similar to the end on the right. And as pictured it's a male plug. The other end is a USB plug, also male. So I assume you have some idea what this thing is?

Mr Jake

Its a cable used for connecting printers.

Possibly other things, but not as far as I know.

Printers and really old scanners I think.

Thanks for identifying what its use is. Does it by any chance have a name though?

I think it's called a 'Centronic' (or 'Centronics') cable, but that might just be a brand name.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

The other day I found something that looked like a parellel port which connected to a Sega Genesis!

It was for a really old, cheesy virtual reality headset.   What a load of useless garbage.  There's the end result of Lawnmower Man.  Consumers falling for peices of technology trash.
