I was supposed to start this on 1st december, but because I was moving out that day and only got my internet working today, and no-one else did so here it is.

As usual, in year 2006 some of us celebrate christmas. But how do you do it? Like me who has great time and only good experiences, or like someone I know who thinks christmas is boring and travels out of the country every time?

My christmas goes basically like this: I go home, to the country, where we have a big house. Usually there's a lot of snow, none this year, it's the first time when I've been alive. Anyway, we burn wood in the fireplaces to keep the house warm. We go get a christmas tree from the woods, and no, it's not stealing because we own the land. then we let the kids decorate it. Kids being my brother and sister, 7 and 5 currently. They're funny when they're waiting for father christmas. Usually we eat in the afternoon before the big guy comes. Ok, this is christmas eve, so that you won't get confused. A 11 kilos ham, and all these traditional finnish foods, made of liver, carrots, turnip, etc, in the oven. And stuff.

Then we have some wine and get bored waiting for the paid FC. When he comes my brother and sister are scared of him, and he gives out shitloads of presents, usually, well for them, not for us, we're pretty much grown up nowadays, so the point is not to have as much as possible, but maybe something small and useful. This year will be different in a way since my big sister is in Hungary with her boyfriend, so it'll be just us 6 there.

Now let it flow. I could have done better, but I'll change it later if I must.

And not to discriminate, we have people here who don't celebrate christmas, tell us about what you do this year instead, or how do you feel about christmas, I'd sure like to hear.

Christmas is too expensive and because I'm the only person with any available funds left in the family, I'm vetoing it this year. Unforunately we have no children to deprive. If anyone wants to hire a skinny, beardless santa then I'm available. I wasn't aware of this business opportunity before!

Gonna go stay with my boyfriend's parents for a week over christmas. We're all getting each other a present, and we're all getting stockings....!!! And we're going to bring loads of DVDs and also the Wii... his parents and sister are going to LOVE the Wii.

We'll eat loads and loads, get fat, play loads of games together and stuff.

Then a few weeks after christmas I'm going to visit my family... I couldn't afford to fly back to Ireland this year. I'm going to get all my sisters/brother a little present and, hopefully by then I'll have enough cash to buy them a Wii (if they don't already get one for Christmas). My little sisters will love Wii Sports sooo much.

well, I hate to say it, but I'm actually dreading christmas :(.My Mom and dad often row horrifically on special occasions it is spoiled it for everyone.We have hardly any money ethier, and five kids in the family,so we won't be getting too much. my mom and dad's relationship has had it but we are still all living together, and dad thinks all us lot should move out.This is why there is always so much tension on special occasions.

I love Christmas but this year I have no money for it. I love Christmas time - providing I get well into the spirit! I'm kind of getting there this year... My Christmas routine generally starts off with a family meal and Christmas present exchange (which happened today, except the restaraunt had barely ANY Christmas decorations so it felt really bland and didn't put me in the mood so much :() But I've just been handed some Christmas cards, and my uncle gave me his old video camera and all its accessories so that's helped! :D Then I usually line up my christmas movies, I don't know why but watching the Die Hard trilogy and Predator really get me into the mood and thats when I know it's Christmas hehe!

This Christmas my grandparents are staying at my house, so I'm going to have to be relatively social. But Christmas eve is always fun, this year its going to be a pub venture as New Years is reserved for a big friend gathering at someones house (cos last year we spent it on someones DRIVEWAY in the cold grrr).

I've still gotta write Christmas cards, plus i'm lucky to be in the 2nd year of college and that helps get me in the mood. I really do enjoy Christmas, and even though my Christmas lights are broke and I have no money to buy friends Xmas prezzies this year, and probably won't have money for Xmas parties - I just know that seeing all my friends who've been away at Uni this year will make it great!

Oh yes, new year. I remember last year we we're at my friends and went to sauna all of us, and then rolled naked in the cold snow. Afterwards we went out and fired some fireworks up in the sky very drunk... I think we ended up with 12 bottles of beer for each and some more Finnish vodka. Hmm, I recall someone playing CoD online and someone watching porn on cabel tv.

Was a laugh though :D I wonder where I slept that night...

After a slew of mildly depressing christmas' ("Remember when Grandma (was alive and) came round for the day?" "Remember when we had loads of people come for the day?" "Remember when we ate around the table for our xmas food instead of watching the telly while we eat?" "Remember when.. etc")

Well, for the first time in about ten years, my brother will be here for christmas!  :D

There are no Wii(s) to be had in Ireland. Only really smart people (ie. sneaky bastards who put their name down for one six months in advance. Bastards!) will have any Wii-based fun come Christmas Day.

Suffice to say, I was not one of those people (bastards!).

I wish crab salad wasn't on the menu each and every Xmas at 9:30 in the morning. If humans were really meant to eat that they'd have a mouthfull of crab every morning when they wake up and still have gills in stead of lungs.

All i want for Xmas brunch is a couple of croissants, a cuppa tea and everyone shutting up about how happy en generous they are feeling.

Still, there are good thing about Xmas. Snow is good and it's been quite a few years since we had that at Xmas, so i suppose this year will statistically be the one where we WILL have one. The great fire last year burned down all of our family games, so all we're left with is poker or gin, wich are both perfectly acceptable to me. With the cold winter and all girls in the street will be much more inclined to accept my warming hug as a friendly gesture as opposed to screaming bloody murder and trying to kick you where it hurts. And, as a real Xmas treat, i get to see my favourite (and only) nephew i am uncle to. A single smile from him is worth all the social responsibilties Xmas brings.

Christmas just means more stress for some.

The best Christmas I've experienced was dressing up as Santa Clause and walking around downtown amidst drunk girls.  I took pictures with them and let them tell me why they were naughty.

On Christmas Eve, I usually get together with my immediate family; my mom, stepdad, my sister, and her boyfriend.  We exchange gifts, have some snacks, and watch a little tv.  This year, my wife and I invited my parents, my sister, and her boyfriend over to our house.

On Christmas Day, one of my aunts (one of the three that live nearby) holds a get-together at their house.  So we all head over there, have some food (usually a ham, with some other side dishes), exchange some more gifts, have a drink (mostly beer), and socialize, and that's the last time we hear from or see each other until the following Thanksgiving.

...I take that back.  In mid-January, my aunt from Illinois comes up for a visit, and my family holds a "second Christmas".

There is no snow here, either.  Which is funny, because it's usually knee-deep by now.  All we've gotten this year is a light dusting.  I can't say it's not cold enough for it, though.

Christmas is a time for family. I have only distant family over here. I am working XMAS day. Great things about working in a pub/restasurant, or any other service environment? lots of tips.

I'll probably end up gettin drunk that night.

I'd like to spend some time with my girlfriend, but she is in france, because she lives there. will see her early january though.

Just when I was sinking into despair I turn the tv on, and boom, there's the weather forecast saying we might yet get a white christmas. They said next tuesday, after a week there'll be cold and lots of snow. If this is true, then ......

Well, I've been MIA since June, so I'll probably work on that never-ending game at home. It also means the chance to try out Photoshop CS, my mum's waffle maker, and my mum's bread box.

Christmas means a time to go home.
Which means not just liberty but leave.
Which means no duty, inspection, formation, or uniforms.
Which means sleep, doing what I want when I want, driving, partying, and civvies.
Which means cooking good food, grocery shopping, chilling with friends, and relaxing.
Which means Christmas dinner and holiday parties.
Most of all, it means family and friends.
