Hi all, :)
I first of all excuse me for my English some difficult, but I am Italian. 8)Ã,
I would like to know: does an Italian version of the program Ags exists? ???

And where can I find it? :-\

I thank for the possible answers. ;)

Hello, and welcome! I beleive AGS comes in only one version and that's English.

Hm... I dimly remember there was a german translation... but I'm not sure. I've never heard something of an Italian translation, anyway.

It'd be great if there were separate translation files, or if it were possible to translate them yourself. (There will be plenty of volunteers)

However, then the manual would need to be translated as well (and you all know just how hard it is to have that one manual in English available, up-to-date and without errors - imagine that multiplied by the number of different languages out there, it'd be an unbelievable mess). And people would come here asking technical questions and be confused because of the English button-names in the editor etc.

Or think about the script language - that would need to be translated as well (an editor with a translated user-interface, but with an English script language would seem strange and unprofessional). And translating script languages in other languages is really, really hard to do and in some cases impossible (at least I think it's proven to be), because some languages just work different. That's basically why there are almost no real programming-languages out there in a different language than English. At least none that are as powerful as C++/AGS.

Additionally, Chris couldn't be held responsible for his editor anymore, as soon as it is available in God-knows-what-languages, that he doesn't speak.

Altogether, it seems like a cool idea (and wouldn't be too hard to realize), but it'd create tons of new problems. As dumb as it sounds, it's really a lot easier to have AGS available in only one language, English.

To the original poster: there's no such thing as AGS in another language than English, there's no German version out there either.

For aceditor or early versions of AGS, I thought he did have several translations... Then it stopped due to popularity and being too much work. I think he had language packs.

What AGS had, from what I remember, were several "languages" for the *game*, not the editor - and specifically, what it did was translate some default texts (Choose a name for your savegame, Are you sure you want to quit, Yes, No, Ok, Cancel, etc). I don't remember it doing any more than that. Naturally, it was rendered useless by the ability to edit Global Messages and later on the Translations feature.

Anyway, English is pretty much the Esperanto in business, programming and the net, isn't it?
