I usually don't do this but what the heck!

TVD: You see you have 170 posts and 17 posts per day. That gives 10 days of being here... Then it could be the registration date which is shown...

Either way it was not yesterday it was 10 days ago. Satisfied now? ;)

BTW, how did you edit your post without showing in the bottom half? You probably made it in less than a minute huh? ;D

Would non-Aussies be able to attend and, if so, any idea on the time-frame?

I have a week's vacation I have to take (not that I don't want to) coming up and I'm looking for a place to go!Ã,  I was thinking Spain (to hang with Nacho!!) but Australia is a place I've always (REALLY) wanted to go and why not see some AGSers in the process!!

Oh and DG promised me a beer a few years back ;D

KANDYMAN-IAC

Sure people from other countries are invited. I just remember the first few times someone tried to organise this, and it all kinda disolved when people from other countries complained on how far away Australia was.

Wha-a-a? You promised me a beer!

How about this, you bring over your favourite American beer for me and I'll get you some Aussie beer.

I'll gladly buy the beer!!

I just need to know what days to buy the plane ticket for.  Oh and what airport to fly into ... and where to go once I'm there!

How do people feel for mid year, set at the same time as midyear university holidays? Taking place over 5 days? Further south so its a little colder than 35 degrees and a hundred percent humity (i'm looking at you QLD)? And either camping, or staying at some sort of Ski lodge, or just mountainous country side?

I dont usually post much (I lurk a lot). But I had to mention, I'm from Australia (Melbourne), and have to add my 2c.

I dont think camping or ski resort is a good idea for many reasons. Many people (myself included) from australia would probably be very interested in meeting fellow AGS users, however, I believe will be deterred by the idea because of such a big commitment to something they havent done before. I'm not very keen on spending 5 days somewhere with complete strangers (sure some have met, and others know each other well through the net but its not the same). Then there's the cost side of things. Most of us are probably teens with not much money or uni students, etc. I cant see a lot of us forking out money for return flight tickets, accommodation for 5 days, food and other expenses that go along with such a grand journey. Others have to work too (although taking time off probably isnt a problem).

Dont get me wrong - I'm all for the idea, but the only drawback is; Australia is a big country. I'd love to have a get together though.

My proposal would be something based on these points:
1. A location common to the most populated AGS users - ie if most people are from sydney and melbourne then somewhere inbetween like albury or wagga - a day trip by car easily.
2. no more than 2 to 3 days perhaps over a long weekend including travel time
3. if possible, people who live at the host town could offer to put up some of the visitors to save on accommodation costs
4. a 'dinner party' or similar at a restaurant just to formalise it a bit.
5. other activities that could fit into the shorter time frame.

so to sum up, we want to save money because we're poor, and not do it on such a grand scale. who knows if the first one is successful, then at least we have an idea of what to do and not to do for the next one....

thanks for listening.

KANDYMAN-IAC

Well cosmicr how about all the Melbourne AGSers meet casually sometime in the next few weeks. So that we at least aren't strangers. And brisbanites (and locals can do the same) , and people from sydney and surrounding areas etc. Nothing big just all turning up in the same spot, maybe, coffee or a beer depending on age gropup...

Just as first steps to something bigger later on? How is that?

(like dating no commitment, just taking it step by step)

Hi, hmm I do agree with Cosmicr... it can be very costly. I like the idea of a weekend away. I work too and getting time off for me would be hard, being casual so not getting holiday pay. Weekend is perfect as this is when I'm not working. I am from Adelaide, South Australia but I grew up in Melb, so I would like to meet there, have a nice dinner out at a really nice place with the ags-ers. Love to eat out, there are some nice resturants that I could suggest if you like... and also country town sounds nice.... maybe Daylesford in country Vic or just some nice country town where everyone can meet up at. This is a good idea, I am glad Kandyman suggested a meet up for Australians as I had been wondering when we could do that ;). Anyhow, good idea to think about where and I like the mid-year time too.

Actually a friend of mine mentioned Daylesford today for this trip, then went on to explain that Daylesfords chief export is manly lesbians :D... he said its a nice place though.

Manly lesbians are fun. They drink quality liquor and they can give you some good tips on making your woman happy

IF YOU GET MY DRIFT

(oral sex)

I should also mention that this get-together won't be for a couple of months. My budget is pretty thin at the moment so I'm going to be saving up some $$ over the next few months.
